Adams or Hooker?

Quote:Wow! Do I ever disagree with this statement. In fact, I couldn't possibly disagree more.
I think Ivory is a better player than Cyp, and I think Adams is a better player than Fournette.

In fact, I think if Peterson is Fournette's 90% outcome comp...I think Ivory is his most realistic outcome comp. They are not dissimilar players.

Quote:Peak potential is if you want Polamalu or Reed

That's how I look at it. My answer is Polamalu

Personally, I think Ivory and Cyprien are pretty much on the same level, but I find Fournette to be a better player than Adams, although both are good. I also think RB is a more premium position, as well as a much bigger need than Safety. We have a decent enough defense that we could get away with having a serviceable Safety and we wouldn't lose too much, but right now our offense is completely one dimensional. We have a complete lack of talent at the RB position and a couple of spots on the offensive line as well. I just believe that a RB the caliber of Fournette, would benefit this team much more than any Safety would. Fundamentally, I'm opposed to drafting any Safety in the top 5. My ideal scenario is and will always be to trade down. I believe top 5 picks should only be reserved for franchise QB's, OT's and the occasional D-Lineman. Since I see no elite players at those positions in this draft, (I know some people will disagree,) I see no other option, but to trade down. Heck, we could probably land either Fournette or Adams if we did trade down a few spot, but I'm not running things though.

Quote:Adams > Hooker

Hooker is good, but I feel like he got lucky on a few of his "highlight" plays, which is making him stand out a bit more. Still have to watch more tape of them, but those are my initial quick thoughts between the 2. Adams flies all over the place.

Malik Hooker did not get lucky by leading the team in interceptions. He also does more than intercept passes. I don't know why his projection is so high, but scouts obviously are watching more than "a few" of his highlight plays.

If the Jags lose Cyp to FA that obviously creates a huge hole that will have to be filled.

As is, the team desperately needs a RB and several other positions that we can all agree on. If Thomas is cut that creates yet another gaping hole that must be addressed. If House is cut and Prince wants at least 8 mil a year...well you see where I'm going.

Still believe this team is around 8 players away...and I do realize that the team will have several FA's in 2018 who will certainly need to be re-signed.

I don't see Cyprien returning since some team will overpay him in free agency. Adams and Hooker are great prospects, but at this point I think the Jaguars would be better off taking either Fournette or Allen in the first round and Budda Baker in the 2nd as Cyprien's replacement. Other than desired height, he seems to have it all and would be a steal in the 2nd round.

Hooker has a torn labrum and a hernia that he just got surgery for.  Guessing he'll be questionable for OTAs for whoever drafts him.  Maybe he falls a couple of spots.

The expectation is he will be ready for training camp. It looks like he will fall way more than a couple of spots.

That sucks for Hooker, and us. Allen, Cook, and Hooker varying degrees of shoulder scares, Fournette with a chronic ankle issue, and Tim Williams with some kind of (hopefully overblown but still a worry) off field issues.

I think we are down to Adams and Thomas (or dare I again suggest OJ Howard) as the only clean prospects good enough to be picked at 4...so far.

Its Fournette. The guy is a stud. You don't pass on talent like that. Especially with a young QB you wanna fix.

Dare you not say O.J. Howard. Nobody is ever going to give him a higher projection than top five locks from the same school.

If the Jags lose Cyp I think the pick is Adams at #4. If they re-sign Cyp I think they may try and trade down targeting Fournette or Cook

I don't think their is any question they will be drafting a RB

Fournette is consistently projected as a top 5 pick. You pick him at #4 or not at all.

Hes been projected a lot to the panthers at 10 so id say trading anywhere between 5-9 and its still feasible that hes there

Guys, I think Solomon Thomas may be a great pick. He can play LDE and provide a good pass rush from that side. He can also slide inside and have a combination of Ngakoue-Jackson-Thomas-Fowler rushing the passer.

Hooker looks soft. Not really an explosive tackler on the back end. He's got range for days but don't see him as the complete safety everyone is claiming him to be.

Who would make that trade?

I don't remember anybody calling Malik Hooker a complete safety.
