Adams or Hooker?

Quote:I've ready plenty of comparisons to Ed reed

That is not the same as calling him a complete safety. Has that exact term ever been used?

I have also read he is compared to Ed Reed, but not the reasons why.

Quote:Guys, I think Solomon Thomas may be a great pick. He can play LDE and provide a good pass rush from that side. He can also slide inside and have a combination of Ngakoue-Jackson-Thomas-Fowler rushing the passer.

Come April I could see Thomas jumping past Allen

Quote:Hooker looks soft. Not really an explosive tackler on the back end. He's got range for days but don't see him as the complete safety everyone is claiming him to be.

Quote:I don't remember anybody calling Malik Hooker a complete safety.

MJF is correct here.

As far as Hooker goes, his coverage, range, and athleticism far outweigh his negatives like not being an "explosive tackler". Hooker doesn't have to be a thumper because his skill set would by default place him as a deep safety. I'd take him in a heartbeat. We need a true coverage safety.

Why? If you are thinking about the CFP title game, keep in mind it was only one game against a great offensive line.

Thanks. I was worried somebody would tell me I am wrong again.

The problem with taking Hooker obviously is our pick numbers. He likely will be valued somewhere between 4 and 35.

I'm not saying hooker isn't a good prospect bc he's a phenomenal center fielder but everyone I've been listening too and reading are hyping him up like crazy thinking he's some can't miss prospect. He's only started for 1 season and yeah he made some big plays but taking him at 4 is a reach in my opinion.

Na I'm not just thinking about the Title Game. They are similar players with similar builds how are equally disruptive. And I heard recently Allen my have to get surgery which could cause him to fall a couple of spots.

Who is everyone you've been listening to?

Keep in mind desperate Jaguars fans do this every year when there are no elite prospects at a needed position likely to be valued at our pick number. Hooker is the best safety prospect and we need one, but not at #4.

I disagree that Hooker is the best safety prospect

Second best safety?

Who do you think is better than him?

Imo Hooker is the best FS prospect and Adams the better SS prospect

In that case we should not be debating who the best safety is because they could play together.

By a little or a lot? Are you just going by experience or also their skill sets? I never watched Adams play.

Adams is more physical and the better tackler. By no means bad in coverage either.

Hooker has insane range and ball skills.

Just that Adams is better all round player than Hooker. Think he adds more to a team than what Hooker brings.

With Hooker having multiple surgeries and having to miss the combine, I don't see him as an option at 4.
New signature because HIGH SCORE found the periodic table offensive. Pathetic LOL

Agreed.

Also, would the team consider Hooker with Gipson on the roster?

Gipson needs a backup, but it won't be Hooker.

Earl Thomas left as a soph too, even tho he did start his freshman year, but he had a simlar year as Hooker as a redshirt soph, making explosive plays and range, I would gladly have taken him at 4. Heck we could have had him at 10, but we took Alualu, if a player is projected to be a great player, who cares where you pick them at.
