OK so I think Fournette will be the pick (process of elimination)

Fournette is a product of his Oline. Disappeared against teams that won in the trenches. Not a difference maker IMO. Elliot was still pushing the line when his oline didn't open a hole...never saw Fournette do this in his college career.

If this is true why are so many scouts who do this for a living still projecting him as a top 5 pick and comparing him to Bo Jackson?

I saw a stat recently (really thought I favorited the article my bad) about how Fournette was merely NCAA average when it came to traditional between the tackles and off tackle handoffs. He really excelled on tosses, which LSU ran an absurd 30% of handoffs (NFL average is 7%).
I think that helps my argument that Fournette needs a head of steam to really be special. He gets stopped at the LOS far too easily for a man his size and strength. But that's really the case for 99% of RBs to be fair. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Not sure how accurate the numbers are but if they are close he is definitely a top 5 pick assuming his medical are ok.

Quote: God, if he's really gonna be that great he's gotta be the pick at 4. Quote:God, if he's really gonna be that great he's gotta be the pick at 4. Who thought after the 2015 season ended that we would even have a shot at Fournette? Not many. He is a physical specimen and very talented. Plenty of people will be unhappy with the pick but that would be a phenomenal addition to our team.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Don't agree with picking a RB that high but my god Fournette or Cook would be fun to watch here.
Quote:Tim Williams who is rumored to have a randy Gregory level addiction to weed? Sounds like a great pick at 4th overall. You mean its levels ta dis shhh!?
You Gotta Be Able To Run Da' Rock~
Quote:You mean its levels ta dis shhh!? For some people, the habit and its effects are more important than the bigger picture. Randy Gregory, blackmon, etc...

Quote:as much as I like Fournette the Bo Jackson comparison was rediculous. If you're looking just strictly at skillsets and not comparing their talent, I can kinda see it based on their size and speed. But I'm not big on that comparison either. I think he's similar to a faster Demarco Murray. Although, a good comparison that I heard is a taller Ricky Williams. Quote:Who thought after the 2015 season ended that we would even have a shot at Fournette? Agree. He's being overanalyzed due to being seen as a top prospect for years, same thing happened with Bosa last year. People will look dumb when Fournette is dominating in the pros. Quote:Agree. Him and Fournette should only drop if there are long term injury concerns, otherwise they have top 5 talent. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! It seems like speculation at this point. It's not really speculation that they exist. Fournette has a confirmed chronic ankle injury that could require surgery, and Allen has at least two confirmed shoulder surgeries already. You could speculate on how they will affect them long term, but they are definitely red flags. I would treat both of them like Myles Jack, put them at the end of the top tier of players and if they're what's left of that tier you take em and pray. But I just can't see how you put them ahead of other top tier guys with clean sheets like Adams and Thomas. |
