Carr

OK, I can understand why there are some so pundits who wants Bortles -- tall, big strong, mobile and potentially high upside -- but I see NOTHING from Carr that said he's first round material.

Just finish watching a couple vids of Carr at draftbreakdown. Except for a fast over the head release, nothing stands out from him. He ran a one-read (clap-clap lol), spread offense. I'ld be very surprised if he is drafted in the first round.
Y'all are so naive with QBs. If they have big upside they don't fall to 'where they should go'. Carr's problems aren't nearly as bad as Locker's, Gabbert's, Manuel's, etc...and his upside is far higher than guys like Ponder and Weeden. He's going top 10 unless he goes nuclear on his draft stock during interviews and stuff like Geno Smith did. He will be stellar there though, as many people who have seen his interviews have said in agreement. Just accept that he's going real high.

But that doesnt mean that we should take a QB that we think is flawed to the point he cant be a franchise guy. Bortles I can get on board with, not Carr. I understand you cant hit if you dont try, but some prospects arent worth trying for. Quote:Y'all are so naive with QBs. If they have big upside they don't fall to 'where they should go'. But here goes: http://draftbreakdown.com/video/derek-ca...tate-2013/ Very good Utah St. defense. Show me a Gabbertesque play where he feels phantom pressure or appears scared because of pressure. I'll help you out...there aren't any. In fact, show me a play that isn't a screen (in which him back footing the throw is by design) where his footwork looks worse than any other quarterback.
I think you all are flummoxed by all of the screen plays. You need to watch and understand that that is essentially Fresno's running game, and they can pretty much be thrown out as far as evaluation goes. He isn't some checkdown master, he simply averages over 50 attempts a game because that's how the offense is supposed to work. Fortunately they throw so much that this leaves plenty of evaluation meat on the bones, and it is tasty.
If you watch the cutup I posted above, on the plays that were designed to be traditional downfield throws he (for the most part) has a pretty solid traditional dropback, climb, weight transfer, and compact quick smooth release. It's not perfect, and needs some work still for sure, but it's not nearly the trash that most people make it out to be. You just simply have to evaluate the plethora of screen screens and the NFL type plays differently. Hope that helps. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:It would be easier to ask you to show me one where he does. But here goes: http://draftbreakdown.com/video/derek-ca...tate-2013/I watched the first 7 minutes and came away with the exact same opinion of him. He throws a nice deep ball when he has all day, that's about it. I'm surprised you used this video because there were so many times where he saw pressure and panicked and threw it away immediately rather than trying to avoid it. Every time that he did attempt to climb the pocket he was sacked. If we take him with the third it's going to be Gabbert all over again. I can promise you that.
You can't compare Carr to Gabbert. Carr actually seems kind of tough to me.

All of those throw aways were called screen passes where he is supposed to throw it away if the screen gets sniffed out, which is does fairly often because they run them so much. It has absolutely zero to do with panicking. Feel free to keep hating Carr all you want but I explained what is happening that is different than most normal QB evaluations. Hopefully you learn and progress as an evaluator through it, if not then that's fine too but regardless I'm done trying to explain it for now. Quote:You can't compare Carr to Gabbert. Lol bortles can be taken high because of his measurables? Then Carr shows you nothing? Lol fail.
I personally would rather have Boyd in the second or third if he makes it I can admit I haven't watched many Fresno games but I did watch every snap of that bowl game and he threw screens and bad deep balls and was soft when pressure came into his face

Quote:Watch more then, he's extremely impressive. How so? Or in your opinion what makes him a better prospect than Boyd?
