Should we draft Mixon? (merged threads)

However, the kid has actually come off with an attitude about it as if people shouldn't be concerned about him KOing women. When asked by a reporter if he regretted anything, the kid said outright "no". Oh don't get me wrong, he's definitely an [BLEEP]. Just that I'd still for him if he was good. However, the kid has actually come off with an attitude about it as if people shouldn't be concerned about him KOing women. When asked by a reporter if he regretted anything, the kid said outright "no". I know. He never once said he regretted what he did or he was sorry. He showed no remorse what so ever. He still acts like he was justified and that shows me what kind of person he is.
Quote:Oh don't get me wrong, he's definitely an [BAD WORD REMOVED]. What would it take for you to not cheer for him? Would you feel the same if he was a former child molester? I just want to know if there was anything he could do to make you not root for him if he was selected by the Jags and turned out to be a star?
It all depends what he shows to Caldwell. If he gets interviewed and comes across as a thug then he's not getting drafted by us.

Yeah being a child molester or a rapist would probably be the line I'd draw. Just being honest. You know full well you would celebrate if we beat the colts in overtime with a 70 yard TD. Quote:Yeah being a child molester or a rapist would probably be the line I'd draw. No, I wouldn't. I could guarantee you that. I'm not a typical football fan. I don't put the team over my morals. I want him to fail, wherever he goes. He strikes me as a bad person. Hopefully, we won't draft him, so I don't have to root against one of our own players. So far in our history, I haven't had to do this. We've done a good job of avoiding "bad guys." I'm praying that this continues. Quote:No, I wouldn't. I could guarantee you that. Oh how it would free us up to fill some other major needs if we could get a guy only a sliver less talented than Cook/Fournette in round 4 instead of pick 4. Mixon officially will not be invited to the combine.

Graham Barfield @GrahamBarfield
Joe Mixon's 6.75 Yards Created/attempt is the best I have in my database. For reference: Zeke (5.98), Fournette (5.83), McCaffrey (5.69). <div>Graham Barfield @GrahamBarfield What's even more impressive than Mixon's lofty YC/att, he forced 0.57 missed tackles per rush. The sample average: 0.36. Light-years ahead. <div>Graham Barfield @GrahamBarfield Mixon is also undoubtedly the best inside-zone runner I have ever charted. 7.32 YC/att on inside attempts vs. Zeke's (now) 2nd-best (5.98). And to be fair: <div>Graham Barfield@GrahamBarfield My lone concern with Mixon's on-field product is he faced a ton of soft fronts. Seven or fewer defenders were in the box on 94% of attempts. </div> </div> </div>
Quote:Does Coughlin or Caldwell have a record of choosing to pick bad apples in the hopes of turning them around? They have chosen to sign veteran players who were cut for off-field reasons. Dave Caldwell has only drafted one player (Telvin Smith) who might have been a bad apple. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Does Coughlin or Caldwell have a record of choosing to pick bad apples in the hopes of turning them around? Coughlin supposedly was very high on Lawrence Phillips.
Quote:Coughlin supposedly was very high on Lawrence Phillips. Hopefully, he learned a big lesson from that. Phillips did kill his cellmate and commit suicide. The guy was a total headcase. Quote:Coughlin supposedly was very high on Lawrence Phillips. I remember that during the R. J. Soward aftermath, Coughlin admitted that he felt like he "could coach up anybody" and that was the reason he picked Soward. It's not that Coughlin wasn't concerned about character, but that he felt like he could change it. I'm not certain if his philosophy has changed over the years, but it would not surprise me if it has. Mixon is going to be a polarizing figure in this Draft, it'll be interesting to watch.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Quote:Yes. If we have to bring in a bunch of "low-lifes" to win, I'll root for another team. You do know the majority of great teams back in the day. Had major off the field issues right? And if everyone based on that. Some of the greatest teams would of never existed.

This is pure speculation on my part, but Mixon's incident seems like it will be an isolated incident rather than the first in a pattern. That doesn't excuse what he did, but I don't think whoever drafts him is going to have to worry about repeated violent incidents from Mixon. Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I would think his philosophy would have changed after that disaster. |
