OLB

Quote:My prediction:This is an interesting scenerio. As much as I love the effort and production of Poz, his best days are behind him. It is possible they might get a 3rd or 4th rounder from a playoff contender for Poz. If not, they can keep him as a valuable reserve for one season before they make him a linebacker's coach. Fowler may be more productive at SLB, although I'm not sure how he'd be at covering tight ends. If T.C. signs off on Pierre-Paul, that's good enough for me. Can't imagine a faster or more athletic front 7 than the one you predict. I'm on-board with this all the way! We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:My prediction:Do this and draft Jamal Adams, defense would be nasty Quote:If the staff leaves Fowler at DE and Jack goes to MLB which I think he will this year, we need another strong side LB. Who are your guys Dave could possibly target in the mid rounds? Alex Anzalone has the potential to be a star if he can stay healthy and the we can get him before the Pats do. Would love it if he somehow falls to the 4th. I highly doubt it though, most likely goes in the 3rd. Believe it or not. I actually like JJ Watt's little brother T.J Watt coming out of Wisconsin. He was very quiet his first three years in college and then turned it on in a big way last season for the Badgers. Made a lot of plays in the backfield. A few folks are hyping him up a bit more than I think he deserves because of who his brother is. I've seen some people mocking him in the late 1st RD and early 2nd RD. I think that's a reach. I think he could be an ideal fit here and a steal though in maybe RD3. Outside of him. I really like Dylan Donahue out of Western Georgia. Small school kid but plays with a high motor and was productive for the past two years. I think he'll be sitting there for us still in RD5 - RD6. Very minimum you get a high effort guy on the depth chart and a guy that can fly on special teams. Jordan Willis out of Kansas City St. is another name to watch when the combine and pro day numbers start coming out. He's a bit of a freak athlete for his size. Another productive player that could be there for the taking in RD3 - RD4. He's a tweener though. You can play him standing up or dropping back. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. Quote:Do this and draft Jamal Adams, defense would be nasty I don't know if Fowler would be good at SLB or not, but I'm curious why you like the idea of him there but think Poz would somehow be a liability there? You think Fowler would cover those TEs and RBs you mentioned that much better?

I don't think there's really much of a speed difference between them either. I know Poz has lost a step over the years, but he's still got wheels. (Oddly enough their official 40 times were nearly identical.) I wonder how Marrone and Wash feel about Fowler playing at OLB? How this defense is going to play out is quite a mystery at the moment. SS, OLB, MLB, and CB#2 are all question marks until we know how they will use Jack, how that will affect Poz, and whether they sign/re-sign or draft at CB and SS.
I still say we have no clue how Fowler would be. His college coverage was just playing zone flats, and he just wasn't challenged. He wasn't covering any TE or RB or god forbid the occasional slot receiver in man in college.
It's a huge risk to think a guy who already has subpar change of direction skills could switch to linebacker and cover even more space, and do it against far better athletes. Dante's good 40 yard dash will help him chase the receiver downfield when he gets left in the dust after one cut.

In a 2014 draft redo he would have been the top pick by Houston. You would think after seeing his success over the last 3 years analysts writing mock drafts knew not to put an emphasis on blood lines. T.J. Watt may be worthy of a late first round pick - the combine and Wisconsin's pro day will answer that question - but J.J. would not have anything to do with it. The only mock draft I have seen so far (Daniel Jeremiah's second on NFL.com) has T.J. going to the linebacker-needy Packers. You're comparing the QB position though to two brothers who play different positions entirely. I am just saying I think he's going to fall a lot further than most people care to admit. But as far as the blood line argument. There's been just as many blunders than success. Tim Hasselebeck wasn't anything like his brother Matt. Gronkowski's little brother is nothing like him. Rodgers' little brother was nothing like him. Clay Matthew's little brother Casey is nothing like him, etc. I see your point though. And it does have a 50/50 chance to be honest. You can point to the Manning's. You can look at the Bennett's and the Pouncey's. Etc. But J.T Watt doesn't have a lot of starting experience and he's riding into this draft on one year of production. Not a whole lot out there on him to gauge his ability and game overall. This isn't a really deep class either at the OLB position so having his name does help him. I just think he should be a 2nd day player at best. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. How far down in the second round would you put T.J. Watt, based strictly on his own value as an OLB? I agree someone who has only one year of starting experience should not be a first round pick.
You know something; I never thought about the different playing styles between David and Derek. The Pounceys are identical twins, so they were almost bound to have the same level of success. Quote:Poz got wheels? He must have flat tires I see what you did there. More of the usual Jaguars negativity. Poz is fine or he would not be starting. Quote:Poz got wheels? I surely didn't expect him to play so well in 2016, but it wasn't difficult to see why Jack wasn't playing the Mike last year. Poz was playing great. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:For a 32 year old MLB he's actually doing just fine in the speed dept. Another factor in Myles Jack not playing Mike last year was Paul Poslusnzy stayed healthy and Dan Skuta did not. We put Jack where he was needed. Quote:For a 32 year old MLB he's actually doing just fine in the speed dept. Agreed that Poz played great. But I think him being descent in coverage is more due to being smart and being in the right spots rather than speed
Quote:Agreed that Poz played great. But I think him being descent in coverage is more due to being smart and being in the right spots rather than speed It is both. No matter how smart a player is he can't play at that level without speed. Quote:It is both. No matter how smart a player is he can't play at that level without speed. I formed my opinion based on a handful of plays in which I thought he was going to be beat in coverage last season - but he managed to close and affect the pass. There were also a number plays in which he moved quickly outside the hash marks to make a tackle for no gain that showed impressive speed for a guy his age. These dozen or so plays were not what I expected to see from him last year and they impressed me into thinking he's a little faster than I thought he was.

He would be a steal in the 3rd though
