No, a "Foles isn't really better than Henne" issue

Quote:D6 was implying that if Foles, a not very good QB, is near the top of possible free agent QBs then resigning Henne became a much more palatable option.

Quote:He's not suggesting that Nick Foles is a good QB. He's saying that out of all of the QB's that are likely to be available, Nick Foles is one of the better options on that list. Therefore making Chad Henne a more attractive option.

That's my take on what D6 meant, anyway.

Both of you are right on target!  Thank you for your efforts!

Everything is relative.  Ideally for the Jaguars,  they will find a better # 2 QB than Chad Henne.  But with a QB market that clearly has major limitations,  at least Henne provides familiarity and very good intangibles from a team player/ knowledge perspective.

Quote:Agreed.  Like I mentioned earlier in another thread, I think Henne was re-signed as more or less an insurance policy in the event a better option doesn't present itself. If Foles is the best there is in this free agency period, we're better off with the status quo.  Hopefully, better options will come into scope, most likely via trade options, and we can get someone who can push Bortles, and at a minimum, win the backup role.

This is very much along the lines of what I was thinking.

At least Chad Henne provides the Jaguars with leverage and security.  Considering the Jaguars excellent salary cap situation,  even if the team releases Henne,  the cost on the salary cap will be less than the positives Henne will provide for as long as he remains on the Jaguars roster.

What team would be the best fit for Nick Foles?
