Agree, but it's the position that drives teams to desperation, believing QBs can become something they aren't.  Whether it comes early or late, false hype is equally false.

This is a pretty big myth actually. People started talking about Blaine possibly becoming the first QB taken around the combine, but people weren't actually mocking him consistently #1 or over Cam.

Are you suggesting that Blaine Gabbert was the "consensus" number 1 QB pick during that time? If so, you'd be wrong. 

 

Maybe a few mocks had him over Cam but it was far from universal.

He may not of got the publicity but doesn't mean he wasn't touted early on, truthfully I have no idea.


But when you have to go back to a draft what would be 10 years previous, by the time this next draft comes around, I think it's fair to call it an outlier.

I was quoting another post where it mentioned locker and ponder as high risers and made my comment as such.


I must admit though I did forget until you mentioned it how highly rated Locker was the year before he came out. It's still true for Ponder though.

Locker's fell from where his perceived position was after his junior year. At no point into his senior season was he considered a top 10 pick. You would also be hard pressed to find any pre-draft ranking or mock where he was listed above Gabbert.

At this point, I don't see how anybody can be considered a "late riser." Most players haven't even played their bowl games yet.


If by "late riser" its meant that the players best season was his last season which significantly increased his draft stock then, well, duh.

Man I hope Clowney falls to us.  Clowney will make everyone on the D line better along with the secondary.  If we do some how get Clowney I think it would at least put us in the to 20 in sacks and also with Branch improving another year.

A month ago I didn't think it, but I've got a feeling he goes #1 to Houston now.  He's low risk and would improve their defense.  With QB so deep, they can wait until their next pick and grab someone to compete with Schaub and Keenum.

Unless STL can't trade back for some reason, then we get first dibs at the QB position since they will likely take a tackle.   But yeah, it seems like we have an excellent shot at Bridgewater.
