I don't see why any team would pick a player who missed the combine and school pro day and will not be available until training camp because of two surgeries that high even if he is a top 5 talent. But I would love to pick Hooker if we trade down.

Hooker gets a lot of INTs which is impressive and has a couple draftniks drooling over him, but he may not be physical enough to play S in the NFL. Adams is one of the most physical safeties the draft has seen in quite some time drawing comparisons to several past greats (not just Ed Reed, who also is way more physical than Hooker), and Adams gets his fair share of INTs as well as you can see from his highlights...

I think both Adams and Hooker are good players who can benefit the Jaguars.

 

One thing I like about Adams are his instincts.  I would imagine being the son of a former NFL player helps.  In the clips he seems to read the routes/combinations well and put himself in the right place.  He also provides good thump in the run game.

 

But one thing that sticks out to me about Hooker is his propensity to make the really big play.  When he gets his hands on the ball, a LONG return typically follows.  In that montage provided by 02, Adams seems to slip a lot.  Now perhaps that is just coincidence, or the result of some particularly sloppy turf in one instance.  But Hooker seems to take INTs the distance a lot.

For some reason being the son of a great player seems to rarely help, from what I can tell. Brian Griese, Bobby Carpenter, Casey Matthews, Kelvin Taylor, Kellen Winslow Jr., I must be missing some too. Take all family connections with a grain of salt.

 

Interception returns are what Malik Hooker does best. He led the team in interceptions. One of them was at the Fiesta Bowl -  that's right, against Deshaun Watson. If he was a three-year starter, I would want him at #4.

To me, Adams is hands down the better player. He beats hooker in basically every category besides range. Hooker might be a tad bit faster but Adams is plenty quick enough and is the better overall player by a lot.

I'm now reading that a few teams are looking at Adams including for the #1 overall pick, and that he might not even make it to #4. I guess we could always take Hooker as a consolation if Adams doesn't drop, but I'd really like to see Adams just fall in our laps.

Yeah he ain't going over Garrett, but 2 or 3 wouldn't be a shock. He's the most bulletproof prospect in the class.
