Theres definitely tension between him and the FO. Kirk wants a contract and theyre basically daying youre not good enough for what you want. Ive never seen any reason to think the players dont support him though, last i saw the support for him was pretty resounding.



Im passing on kirk though. Hes better than what we have, but hes gonna be made the highest paid player ever and id rather thats not us. Hes cool but not that good.

I might be in the minority in terms of my opinion.  But here it goes:

 

Kirk Cousins would be a major upgrade over the Blake Bortles of 2016.  Yet,  I think the Jaguars will need to do better than what Cousins provides,  especially at the costs associated with the Jaguars bring him into the fold.   Cousins would be no better than the 3rd best QB in the AFC South, likely for a long time to come.   His physical skills don't stand out and he's prone to making huge mistakes.  The interception that DRC came down with in the latter part of the season finale against the Giants might have cost the Redskins a playoff spot. 

 

Cousins made some key mistakes in crunch time towards the end of the season and yeah he definitely cost them a spot in playoffs.

  This is definitely my take.   The Redskins looked horrible in two of their final 3 games,  both at home ( vs. Carolina on MNF and vs. the NY Giants ).  Those two teams basically had nothing to play for in terms of their playoff situation,  for different reasons.  Though Kirk Cousins didn't get enough from his teammates in either game,  he certainly didn't elevate his team.

On top of this, Kirk Cousins is going to be paid like the premier guy,  which means he likely would be around for at least 2 seasons if he's brought into the fold.  Not to mention possible trade compensation..

Yeah definitely. Hes just a mid level high percentage QB, and he wants to get paid like a guy who wins superbowls. Not only is he a guy who isnt top level but his contract puts a dent into trying to build a team unless your drafting is on point.

Completely agree and this brings me back to my statement about overall QB play in the NFL not being very good. I think eventually the skins will cave and pay him. Probably not what he wants but way more than he's worth.

Unless they tag him i really dont think he takes less than whatever it is that he wants. With the way he's generally acted dude is angry he didnt get a contract. He wants everything.

I'd take Cousins over Bortles and anybody else out there right now (except DeShawn Watson, but Jags are not drafting QB in round 1).  Cousins passes the eye test with his mechanics and down field throws.  I love watching him sling it.  Looks like a real QB, unlike what we have seen lately with Bortles (close eyes, throw a wobbler with a funky motion and pray, or just run it).
