Griff Mock Draft 1.0

#1

Mock Drafts in theory don't matter but it gives us a general idea of where players will go and how teams think, and they are fun to do and then see how a certain team will look post draft. So here is my first 7 rd mock draft for the Jaguars this off season.

RD1: Jamal Adams SS, LSU

We get who many believe may be best safety since Berry to come out, He plays with some edge and with Ramsey creates a scary, mean defensive secondary.

RD2: Christian McCaffrey RB, Stanford

We get a very versatile player who can run, catch, and return while having pretty great vision, keeps his legs pumping and showed in college he can carry the ball without injury problems. Could make out offense dynamic.

RD3: Dion Dawkins OT, Temple

A talented tackle prospect who could compete at RT or one of the guard positions did well vs talented teams and edge rushers and is versatile.

RD4: Jake Butt TE, Michigan

Originally a rd 1-2 guy, after an ACL tear in the bowl game against FSU he has dipped a bit. Fantastic 3rd down target and red zone target, needs to fine tune his blocking but could end up being a steal in 4th.

RD5: Joe Mathis OLB, Washington

Another prospect coming off of a big injury, but as Caldwell said last year we need to take some risks and I think this one could pay off. He was a superb pass rusher for Washington until going down and worth a look.

RD6: Joe Heck OT, UNC

Depth for Tackles and Guard spot, blocked for top QB prospect Mitch Trubisky.

RD7: Fred Stevenson FB, FSU

The return of the Fullback. Her I think the Jaguars get their new FB and with McCaffrey can make a strong running duo.

McCaffrey won't make it out of Round 1, but it's a nice dream.

Calling Deshawn Watson a future bust since 3/19/17. If I eat crow, I will keep this in here and proclaim JackCity a genius.

He could will see, somehow we got two top 5 picks last year. I wouldnt be opposed to a trade up like we did with Jack.

Jack had a good reason to drop with that knee of his, McCaffrey has everything going for him. Flawless character, fine on injuries. I could see New England grabbing him, seems like a NE player.

My dream is to grab a top interior lineman near the top of 2nd.

While he does scream Patriot they seem to like their rb committee and have the pass catching back already.

I'd be excited to see McCaffrey slip to us in RD2. I love that idea. I like the Dion Dawkins pick too. As you pointed out he's versatile enough to take the RT job or a G job which is a good pick IMHO because you're at least maximizing the most potential you can with a 3RD RD selection.

The Jake Butt pick is a solid pick-up too. He's a well balance player. Between him, Sterling, Koyack and Lewis that should be a solid enough group for a full season. I haven't seen enough of Adams at S to say I know that I'd like the move there. But I keep hearing good things about him.

Great mock draft and I believe all your choices have a realistic shot at being on "the board." McCaffrey is the one guy who may be gone, but most mocks have him going at the very end of round 1 or top of round 2. There should be a run on cornerbacks in round 1 and I expect 4 quarterbacks to go, including Mahomes.

The only position of need you didn't address is defensive line (pass rusher), but hopefully Pierre-Paul will be our big free agent pick.

I would also assume with thus draft, the Jags go after JPP and a OG in free agency
