Tom Coughlin Press Conference

#21

Quote:Coughlin also said that he doesn’t think the team is helping Bortles “at all” if they can’t run the ball and noted that the team needs more than they got from the T.J. Yeldon/Chris Ivory backfield combo last year. He said there have been discussions about adding a fullback to the offensive mix, something that fit with his general theme of building a tougher Jaguars team in his first season back in Jacksonville.

OLine and run game! Love it.

They sort of want to play like the Vikings, but with more talent on offense. Play fun, energetic defense while moving the ball on long drives for offense. Low scoring type of game almost.

lol ... I think TC would be in a nursing home after suffering a stroke following one of Bortles' pick-sixes.

Those have to stop (the interceptions, not the strokes).

I appreciate you going the extra mile to continue to point out the obvious.

We need toughness. We need strength and we need toughness. We haven't had toughness but Tom can bring it back. Tom built an incredible team in New York with outstanding players. He built a successful team that won. And I don't say this in a bragadocious way, I say this because that's the kind of thinking we need to make the Jags great again, believe me.

I know.

Nah, Trubisky is a loser. This team needs a winner at QB. Watson won at Clemson and he won big league.

Jerod Evans could end up the better of the three.

Certainly a much better value pick.

It sure beats losing. Some QBs know how to win, and others like Bortles find ways to lose every week. We haven't had a winner at the position since Garrard.

Didn't Bortles go like 12-1 in his last season at UCF including a big bowl win against Oklahoma?

He beat Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl. It's true, he was a winner in college. But it hasn't translated to the pros. Of course the horrible mechanics and accuracy are his biggest problems, but his tendency to turn the ball over at the worst times should not be overlooked. He finds ways to lose every week.
