Quote:Was pretty obvious, unfortunately. Ingram is the one that's going to get tagged that we didn't expect a week ago.

The LA Chargers officially tagged Melvin Ingram.  Gus Bradley probably will use him as LEO.

Quote: Arm length is an important criteria for lineman on both sides of the ball.  It's only part of the equation but it's certainly well worth paying attention to as an NFL fan.
Arm length is extremely overrated for edge rushers. They rarely use both hands when they rush, and one arm is longer than two. Example below where reknowned trex armed Melvin Ingram is longer than two armed giant Parnell.

If everything is close to equal, I certainly would prefer my edge rushers to have long arms.  Of course,  everything is usually not equal.  If arm length by itself was by far the most important criteria for a DE, Devin Taylor would have likely received franchise tag money instead of being far down the DE free agent list.

I was pretty sure JPP would be.  Do we go all in for Garrett? Or Allen?

We can't afford him if he does.  Unless we somehow become number 1 with cash again?

They've already said they're nearing a deal to make Berry the highest paid S in the league, and if they don't they are ready to tag him by the deadline.

We're looking at one of Zeitler, Warford, Lang, or Leary and one of Bouye, Trumaine, Gilmore, or Amukamara...or pretty much bust. I'm not even that excited about Perry or Sheard as pass rushers.

Bummer that JPP and Ingram off the board. Jags just cant seem to figure out a solution to the defensive end position. JPP would of been expensive, but maybe he would of been worth the money for a few seasons. Ingram seems to of really come on, that could of been a great FA pickup.

I think Defensive End is our biggest need outside of O line. Im on the Leonard Fournette train, however, with the need to get to the QB and the Jags just not being able to figure out a real solution to the problem, its on the top of our list. Hopefully Ngakoue continues to improve and becomes a more consistent pass rusher. I know he put up good stats as a rookie, but I dont think that tells the whole story. There were times that he disappeared, now granted, hes a rookie, but what im saying is, he wasn't like a dominant force to be reckoned with. He has areas to improve, but atleast he has shown potential.

This may be not to be realistic, but I dont think its out of the equation. I dont think Cleveland has passed on the QB. They are a terrible franchise, until they find a QB, they will continue to suck, Garrett or not. If somehow Cleveland thinks Watson or the UNC kid is going to be a franchise QB, they wont pass on him. If that is the case, maybe we can figure out a way to trade up and get Garrett. Its probably not going to happen, but hey, im just throwing it out there as an option. We need pass rushers and why not atleast attempt to get the best.

At this point, Jags need to take a back seat in FA. I would go after the guard from the Bengals but after that, try and resign some of your own guys and focus on the draft. JPP and Ingram off the board really changes things. We have the cap, but dont over spend just to spend. Get players that are going to make you better.

I'm assuming you want Prince at corner?

Dave mentioned we'd probably fill 2 or 3 needs in FA. I'm going to assume G and CB with JPP/Ingram unavailable

Still hoping for Poe, Sheard and one of the guards.

So basically the well of the top available pass rushers has already dried up. Not really surprising. That only really leaves Poe out of Kansas City. I don't think they'll let Eric Berry escape.

Poe is more of a Jackson type lineman though in a sense that he eats up space and creates space for others to excel.

Thrilled JPP got tagged. Don't want him. I can think of 7 and half reasons not to sign that dude.

6 years $78 million with $40 million guaranteed. Also, Kirk Cousins was slapped with the exclusive rights Franchise Tag as well. Teams are keeping their own stars.

Another wonderful example of DE arm length just not mattering much cause one arm is always longer than two arms.
