Quote:I like Bortles probably more than a  lot of the remaining 2014 draft QB after Bridge....

Mallett was a better college QB prospect than Bortles.
But wasnt Gabbert rated above Mallet ?? hmmm then Gabbert > Bortles. :teehee:

No, never. Mallett fell because of off field concerns. Not QB ability concerns,

But Mallet was never considered the first pick of the draft. Just using your logic.

My logic?

Mallett fell for off field concerns. What does that have to do with my logic?

Gabbert as a QB was not universally seen as a better QB prospect than Mallett. Quite the contrary. Gabbert was just squeaky clean. If Mallett had Gabbert's off field image, Mallett would have gone 1st overall.

Quote:I want to add a WR too. I grilled you for you saying that a WR would be better than Mallett, a potential franchise QB.

You have a real problem with lying.

Ethics & integrity isn't your strongsuit, I'm guessing.

I am not saying I want to avoid drafting QBs and instead draft a WR. I've stated that I want to draft two QBs countless times.

Assuming Bridgewater and Clowney are both gone by 3, I'd like this draft:

Rd 1: Barr

Rd 2: Bortles (Use one of the 5ths and a future pick if necessary to trade up and draft Bortles.)

Rd 3: Richardson/Cooks/Adams (Get 1st/2nd round value with this stacked WR class.)

Rd 4: Offensive Guard (I'm not going to pretend like I've evaluated offensive guards.)

Rd 4: Offensive Guard

Rd 5: Murray (Or another late round QB.)

Rd 5: BAP

Rd 6: BAP

Rd 7: BAP

Do that, sign a free agent DE, and we (hopefully) fixed our biggest issues.

I would also like the Jaguars to bring in an undrafted free agent QB with a lot of potential. Someone like Bryn Renner.

I know anything can happen, but in what world does Bortles drop to the 2nd round?  Some people have him going in the top 5

Then they'd know how to make the fries that perfect golden brown color without overcooking.

I liked what I heard from the presser today.  Caldwell is pretty open and honest about the team and what they intend to do, which is refreshing.

As far as Bradley keeping his staff, what else is he going to say at this point?  It's stupid to ask him, and it's even dumber to expect him to say he's dumping anyone.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That is not true. Ryan Mallett had QB concerns, too. His accuracy was not impressive because he rockets throws that should be touch passes, and he is incredibly non-mobile, which wouldn't be an issue if his pocket presence was above average.

Mallet has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and has a great frame. He isn't a "#1 overall" type player, though.

trading for Mallett = better opportunity for landing that franchise QB than drafting any of the remaining QB of this draft. My opinion.
This should be comical in a couple years.

I don't think Bortles will go top 5. I think he will be mid-late 1st which is why the Jaguars would use their 2nd/5th/future pick to move up for it.

Mallett might not have been the QB prospect Manning/ Luck/ Bridgewater is, few are. The mobility thing was so overblown, I remember posting a link of his highlights which destroyed that claim of him being a statue. He might not have been Randall Cunningham, but he also wasn't totally immobile. He also displayed more than enough pocket mobility which is more important than being a scrambler anyway, As for the touch claim, maybe he did rocket a few but thats coachable/ fixable and I saw enough examples of good touch passes from Mallett in college that shows he can change speeds and throw accurately. He also had a great intermediate and deeper throw ability where he could beat tight coverages and good defense consistently.

He'd be prone to the occasional Cutler/ Favre type "what the hell was that" decision, but thats coachable too. The stuff that cannot be coached up, Mallett has.

Yep, especially when more on the board try to take credit for saying it.

So your saying Manning/Luck/Bridgewater are comparable. Im not seeing the Bridewater hype that Luck got or even close to what Manning got.

This^^

Also we have had enough turn over as far as the coaches. Give them another year to evaluate them before changes are made. God knows they have had no help as far as players.

Yes, I messed up with the 2nd round price for Cousins.

You have to be no more than 14 years old.

A 3rd for Mallet was a starting point for trades? According to what gm?
