Quote:Because a trend is a trend. A DB hasn't broken past 5 in over 20 years. I don't see that changing for Jamaal Adams, who isn't Eric Berry as a prospect. If Ramsey, Berry, and Taylor couldn't break past 5 then I highly doubt Jamaal Adams will be the one to buck the trend. That's a lot of oddly confident statements that only raise more questions. Why is there was some imaginary threshold where 5 is a good spot to pick DBs with great success, but 4 is just way too expensive? Why isn't Adams as good a prospect as Berry? Why is it likely we are going to sign a SS in free agency? I don't think any of them are cut and dry. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Adams, Berry...
Regardless, not good value for safety. safety... Even running back has better value there.

But I have said it before, Adams is like a magnet to the football when the play is alive kind of like Sean Talor was. Not saying he is Talor but kind of reminds of that. As much as I liked Collins a few years ago who was way underdrafted I like Adams better.

Andy BenoitVerified account @Andy_Benoit Feb 21 Nothing does more for a defense’s schematic versatility than having a 5-tool safety. Eric Berry as good as any in this regard. <div>Louis RiddickVerified account @LRiddickESPN Feb 27 Safeties that can read run/pass fast enough 2 b able to fill front side C gap from 12yds 2 make TFL after crushing WR stalk block...I want. <div>Louis RiddickVerified account @LRiddickESPN Feb 27 That means you Jamal Adams. </div> </div>
Quote:wasnt then either if the player was that good Quote:Chiefs and Redskins made a bad pick when Taylor and Berry were picked since it was bad value for a safety? For a team that's set, it's understandable. With a team that can get a premium pick at a more premium position, it's insanity.

Quote: Pretending S is somehow premium, and that it's different than in the past, isn't being honest about the game of football or it's history. It's creating talking points/narratives that sell. Which, is what gets talking heads paid.

Quote:For a team that's set, it's understandable. Those teams were far from set but turned out to be great picks. No team is set that is picking in the top 5 lol
I get the arguments here are reflexive, that's fine. You overvalue safety, and that's cool. Just recognize that's what's happening here.
Second round safeties would fulfill the role just as well as any we could select at four. Can't say that about some of the more premium positions. That's what makes the position, not just the pool of candidates, more premium.

Hey, as long as we're being ridiculous and dismissive of other's opinions, why not be fully inclusive?
Willie Wood was an elite safety but was picked up undrafted. But at least I'm not going to be intellectually dishonest and mistake one example for the rule.
