Him inside next to Malik Jackson, who is a pretty good inside pass rusher in his own right, between Fowler and Ngakoue sounds really good.

 

But given the depth of this class, I'd go back and get another edge rusher later on.

Once FA hits, we will all get a much better picture of who they are going to draft. If they go after Jefferson, you can kiss Adams or Hooker goodbye. I don't see them adding a RB in FA so maybe that's in play but if they go hard after guards, I think they stay put with Ivory and Yeldon but draft someone later.

 

I think you're looking at Dline help with pick #4 simply because there are no good pass rushers out there this year.

Personally, when I look at Thomas, I see his best spot being 3T. Maybe he does just as well at LDE, but his sample size at Stanford was at DT, and it was a really really really good sample at 3T.

 

We also don't know what "scheme" we'll be running. If we're mostly keeping our front, I don't know that spending the 4th pick on a "hold your point against the run" is the best bang for our buck.

Weight wise, I think he's perfect for LDE.

Cyp was a good one.. first round value slipped to round two and all... but we have an opportunity to do so much better with Adams. I truly feel like he'd take our secondary to that elite tier.

Maybe this is a little odd, but Osi Umenyiora keeps popping into my head when I watch him play. Osi always struck me as squatty type guy and I keep getting the same feeling from Thomas. Not all the time, but several different instances pop into my head. Might just be that wacky four point stance that he uses.

He's not that type of pass rusher though. He's more like Aaron Donald than Khalil Mack.

Yes, he is. Stanford played him inside, but he can rush from the outside as well, even if he has to get used to it. I already posted instances of him bending the edge and beating tackles like they're nothing. He is too big, strong, and agile for tackles to handle and his hand usage is above average for a DE because he played inside. He can abuse a tackle with power or go around them with speed and bend. He is the complete package. This is the same thing people said about Ansah in 2013 because of how Colorado played him. As I've been saying repeatedly for the past two months, it's more to Thomas's credit that he is so good of a player that Stanford legit could play him on the inside 95% of the time, and they did that because he was their best interior rusher. Thomas shows all the traits of an edge rusher, Stanford just didn't use him as one, and his combine more than backed that up. I'm not just going off his combine, his combine just confirmed what I saw on tape, a guy that can be a legit probowl edge rusher at the next level. Sleep on Thomas if you want but he will be a double digit nightmare in the NFL and if we don't take him we will be looking back on it just like we are Ansah, Mack, and Beasley, and will be regretting it while still being stuck with our mediocre edge rush.

Solomon Thomas is what NFL evaluators thought Dante Fowler was, even though it was obvious he wasn't. If Fowler is a top 3 pick and we don't take Thomas 4th overall there is something seriously wrong with the NFL scouting evaluation process. Thomas can literally rush in any way you want, from the left or right side, from the inside, standing up or with his hands in the ground, he can beat the tackle around the edge or to the inside of them. And he is a savant in the run game. He is Justin Houston 2.0.
