Bill O' Brien to be Next Texans Coach

Quote:May O'Brien be as successful as all the other disciples of BB. It is to be expected. Somehow, I am sure they will be the paper champs in July like they seem to be every year. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I feel like BOB would have lasted longer at Penn State than he will last in Houston/NFL as a head coach.
Boy, talk about walking into a pretty good situation.
They still need a quarterback, but even with a rookie in 2014 they may be favored to win the division in 2014. They have the most talent on their roster, but Indy has the QB. Should be interesting.

Well he was my #1 choice for the job so I'm ecstatic.. I really didn't think he was going to leave Penn State.
Quote:I feel like BOB would have lasted longer at Penn State than he will last in Houston/NFL as a head coach. Not likely.. Houston/McNair is one of the most patient owners in the NFL.. almost to a fault. Capers got 4 years (despite no winning record), Kubiak got 8 years while only recording 3 winning seasons. O'Brien is going to be given plenty of time to succeed here. And I think he will, he's the anti Kubiak.. a no nonsense coach who'll hold players accountable.
Quote:What an awful hire. What has this guy done? He will be another broken branch in the Bill B. tree, and the Texans have to buy out his contract? LOL, post bookmarked.. And who gives a flip if McNair has to buy out his contract? This isn't a small market, McNair has plenty of money is making plenty of money and cash isn't a issue. The same short sided thinking that has people writing O'Brien off because of the "Bill Belichik" coaching tree is the same kind of type casted mind set that caused Alex Smith to be taken #1 ovrl and caused Aaron Rodgers to plummet towards the bottom of the first round simply because he was a "Jeff Tedford QB". O'Brien has something the other coaches did not.. actual HCing experience and with all of the sanctions he had to navigate through that tenure was a success. There's coaches that hold that role who you know are still nothing, but coordinators.. Dom Capers, Norv Turner, Romeo Crennel, Wade Phillips, and Gary Kubiak. I've said multiple times, whoever hires Kubiak to be their OC will be happy, whoever hires him to be their HC will be sorry. He isn't a HC, neither were the other guys I mentioned. O'Brien is a HC, anybody who will hold the superstar HOF QB just as accountable as another Joe Blow on the roster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33V0hSri6BM is leadership personified and that's exactly what this team needs.. Kubiak would never do that (the guy couldn't even watch us kick FGs). Matt Schaub would pee himself if O'Brien was on the sidelines.
Quote:Bill O'Brien might turn out to be a great NFL HC, being an exception, not the norm regarding the Bill Belichick coaching tree. Yet, the history of the BB tree not producing good enough results as NFL HC's is a significant concern. Quote:The history of the BB coaching tree should give one at least some pause, I agree.....however, IIRC, only O Brien has gone on to first be a head coach prior to then going to the NFL as far as assistants from that tree, previously. It's almost as if BB is overrated and he's only ever been successful with Tom Brady. Weird. His coaches suck on the Brady teat of success, too. Quote:no not really, HeeRo. I don't really care about what's going on between you guys, but you keep dropping "HeeRo" when you talk to him. Weren't you using alternate names during your suspensions too? Quote: So when O'Brien and Bilichick are able to finish a season 11-5 after just a few handful of plays to start a new football season after Brady is rehabbing his banged up knee.. who's "teat of success" are they sucking off of then? ![]()
Houston will do alright with Bridgewater at QB and O'Brien as HC, don't think they'll win the division but think they'll run it close with a solid draft after Teddy B.

Well since Houston will most likely take Bridgewater, I hope I'm wrong about him. Manziel isn't any better though, with the way he plays that guy is going to get smashed like a bug when he gets to the NFL.
I'm just not seeing it. Wouldn't be thrilled if I were a Texans fan.
Only a chump boos the home team!

So who does? Surely not the Jaguars. I still think it's the Texans, although like everyone else they have some holes.

Quote:I'm just not seeing it. Wouldn't be thrilled if I were a Texans fan. If you were a Texan fan and knew about the deficiencies of this team, you would be. I'm a Texans' fan and I'm thrilled. If we couldn't of got him I would've taken John Gruden, this team needs a kick in the pants coach on the offensive side of the ball.. that's exactly what they got.
Quote:Well he was my #1 choice for the job so I'm ecstatic.. I really didn't think he was going to leave Penn State. I think he was the #2 best head coaching prospect out there this offseason, the best being David Shaw from Stanford.

He'll do well because his roster has a lot of good players. How well the franchise maintains the roster will be the key.

Quote:If you were a Texan fan and knew about the deficiencies of this team, you would be. Its just part of the NFL's master plan to keep the Jaguars down. This isn't any genius move on the Texans part. Its funny how everything just seems to go perfectly right timing wise for teams like Indianapolis (Luck) and Texans (O Brien/ Bridge) to keep the division owned by teams that aren't Jax. We bottom out and we always "just miss" the great players we need, and when we have recent coaching openings and we hire Mularkeys and guys like Bradley with no HC experience.... If something catastrophic happened to Luck, the NFL would simply put plan C in and have the Titans belly up so they get Shaw/ and Winston. Something is rotten in Denmark here, and I don't care what anyone says. It sucks to be a Jags fan right now, and given the almost insurmountable environmental circumstances intentionally given this team division-wise. I predict that the Jags will not be able to have success until they move. Unfortunately. Then all of a sudden the NFL will start rigging it so the Jaguars are successful in London or L.A, which is what THEY want. Quote:Its just part of the NFL's master plan to keep the Jaguars down. This isn't any genius move on the Texans part. God, are you moronic. Don't forget your tin-foil hat when you go out. ![]() |
