Quote:Barry Church was the 9th ranked Safety according to PFF

One thing that might provide a clue in terms of what Barry Church is realistically going to get on the market is when the terms of the new 4 year contract Jahleel Addae signed with the LA Chargers are known.

They had Cyp ranked 7th I believe

His durability, relatively speaking,  likely contributed to that ranking.

Quote:Tough to find hits?!?

Unless we are somehow defining "hits" differently, using the term in its typical meaning, it's not hard to find them for Caldwell at all.
I'm not going to derail another thread with Caldwell honesty talk, so I'll just say this and stop with any more replies.

If you think about the fact that Dave has worked with the most draft capital of any GM in NFL history (no GM has ever had 4 drafts of top 5 picks...and he's somehow about to get a 5th), and objectively look at that list you just mentioned, it would be extremely difficult for any non-raging homer to disagree that it would make for an abysmal greatest hits record.

<p class="" style="font-size:26px;">Skins will be in on Dontari Poe, a top target. Also in the safety market, with Barry Church, a target for JAX as well, in their sights

You're wasting your time trying to explain this, just tell these folks to look at the Raiders. They've managed to turn it around with similar to less resources.

Giants giving former Jets WR Brandon Marshall a two-year, $12 million deal, per source.

Amazingly,  when considering his stats,  he's never been on a team that's been to the playoffs.

I mean...they viewed Cyp as a pretty good safety so IDK that PFF is a great grade.

They can only grade what the players do. Cyp graded well because the Jags hid him in the box and very rarely let him stray into deep coverage (and when they did it was as ugly as ever). It's not that hard to get a good overall grade when all you are doing is making easy in the box tackles.

A comparably graded SS that was asked to play the position in a more impactful/versatile manner would probably be a far better player in actuality.

Seems like a good signing for both parties.

That was my thought as well. Cyprien's PFF grade is puzzling.

Josh Norris just said he expects Church to get the 2nd most money behind Tony Jefferson on FA market...sounds like Addae is not a good comparison.

Doesn't have to move, plays in the same stadium. Can't complain with that

It's amazing that in 11 seasons, Marshall has never made the playoffs.

Put on the tape and you see plenty of poor angles on ballcarriers and a few blatantly awful missed tackles.

Sure, he didnt go into coverage a ton, but when he did he was consistently lost and out of place. PIs for days. Just goes to show you PFF isnt something to depend on imo. Some non-Jaguars follower sees Cyp as the 7th ranked safety and think their getting a damn fine player.
