Quote:thats not a defense of PFF its just explaining to you how it works. PFF grades in a certain way for every player, and the way the Jags played him essentially takes advantage of that system inadvertently. Its the same as a left tackle being graded highly even though hes bad because his QB gets the ball out quickly. Its not a pro-PFF statement, its just how it works objectively.

Yes, I get how PFF works. You can only grade the plays you see and if Cyp os getting hidden in a defense and only being played in a position he can succeed in he'll grade out well. I get this.

Just saying this is the exact readon I could care less about PFF. As a SS last year, Cyp was average/middle of the road at best with tons of holes in his game. If you go by PFF, he's a building block level player.

This is literally exactly what KY said

Quote:Yep, he's barely passable in the most basic and unimpactful way you can use the position.

People are going crazy to upgrade the RB position, but I find it really hard to argue that Cyp is a better SS than Ivory is a RB (when healthy ofc).

So it is possible to acknowledge that PFF does carry some credence like me, but use their scores with a little nuance and come out with the same opinion as someone who couldn't care less about PFF.

That seems pretty diametrically opposed to the slander (or really just ignorance) you were just trying to spread about me...

PFF may watch tape but they don't know if a guy is missing an assignment or out of position. They don't know what the coach is wanting them to do. Im not going to base any decision pr go by what they say.

Is it interesting to read that and vompare to what you felt like you saw? Sure. But just because a guy ranks low or high according to their system doesnt sway me what so ever.

That you come to defend PFF whenever someone says something negative?

I literally said Cyp graded out highly so we shouldnt take Church being ranked top 10 too seriously and you went off.

wasn't defending PFF, for the third time.

I said PFF grading Cyp 7th for doing what he did in the most basic and unimpactful scheme possible would likely mean that a comparably grade player like Church who was used in a much more versatile manner would probably mean he is the better player in reality.

What is so hard about this?

It's clear there's a certain someone who thinks way too much of themselves, and PFF.

Way to derail the thread ya nerds.

Thats MJF and TTR's job.

Somebody hit somebody!!!

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Seriously, can we please keep this to free agency related news. This thread is going to have the most traffic today and nobody cares about this little argument over PFF.

Ok, so if youre not defending PFF, why the hell do you start an argument about it after I say Cyp was graded 7th so I'm not sure we should take it too seriously?

Like good lord man. If you think the way your saying the post you made literally had no reason for being said besides trying to start and argument and insult someone.

If the Jags don't get Bouye, I'd rather he end up in Philly than in the AFC South.

I do like that Tom Coughlin just said in a interview on Jaguars Live before the State of the Franchise address that you have to overpay for guys that you need/want, and that's it's just part of it.  He also acknowledged that the Salary Cap will rise every year.  This makes me hopeful that we are going to do what it takes to get one or two of the big name targets.

It's ok dude, you make alot of valid points. But you are just naturally abrasive with your huge ego and air of superiority. It's all good. Not everybody on a message board will like you. Not a big deal. Keep doing your thing, I for one enjoy your perspective and I'm sure many others here do as well.
