I'm not going to derail another thread with Caldwell honesty talk, so I'll just say this and stop with any more replies.

 

If you think about the fact that Dave has worked with the most draft capital of any GM in NFL history (no GM has ever had 4 drafts of top 5 picks...and he's somehow about to get a 5th), and objectively look at that list you just mentioned, it would be extremely difficult for any non-raging homer to disagree that it would make for an abysmal greatest hits record. 

Agreed that I don't want to derail this thread-though given the nature of the thread I don't see it possible.

 

I will say your assertion here that Caldwell didn't make the most of his picks is a different proposition than the statement to which I responded.  Had this been your original assertion, I would have no issue with it.

From a pure talent perspective, I don't see Pierre Garcon as an upgrade over Torrey Smith.  I think Garcon was the guy because he knows the scheme.

I think our defense would be better with 10 guys if it included Campbell than 11 guys if it had both Odrick and Cyp.

I do like that Tom Coughlin just said in a interview on Jaguars Live before the State of the Franchise address that you have to overpay for guys that you need/want, and that's it's just part of it.  He also acknowledged that the Salary Cap will rise every year.  This makes me hopeful that we are going to do what it takes to get one or two of the big name targets.

 

Overpaying shouldn't even be a talking point with free agency (it's a given as it's what free agency is,) but somehow it always seems to be brought up.
