Barry Church for 6 million a year is not bad. He's solid at least.

Church is still mostly a box safety like Cyp, but he doesn't get totally abused when he has to play deep like Cyp. Small upgrade, but an upgrade indeed.

I admit I haven't watched much Church playing but reading a bit about him on cowboys boards it seems like he is a solid player and hard worker. They are not too happy of losing him but neither too disappointed. They definitely liked him though.

 

On an article I read it's said he does his best as an in the box safety while struggles more in coverage. (A bit like Cyprien although Cyp was horrible in coverage).

 

Probably not a world beater but solid and gives us a veteran that we can count on and one hole less to fill.

Cyprien had his best year in the league last year, he's young still, I would have to assume he will continue to get better. As for church I hope he's great but he's older less dominating on the run which is a big part of a SS job. Cyprien probably would've cost too much to keep so I hope church can fill in decently for his price
