Highlights from season ending press conference with Caldwell and Bradley

Quote:Therefor, Mallet would be worth a 2nd round pick if that is what the Patriots were asking for. Except, you know, he isn't. The Patriots have a knack for driving up interest in their backups...Matt Cassel anyone? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Except, you know, he isn't. I wouldn't have traded anything for Cassel. That was a dumb decision by whoever the GM of the Chiefs was. Mallet is way better than Cassel, and I don't think that there is an argument about that. Quote:I wouldn't have traded anything for Cassel. That was a dumb decision by whoever the GM of the Chiefs was. My thought process is that if the Patriots believe Mallet to be capable of being successful, they would hold on to him. Brady will be 37 at the start of next season, and their going to need to have a replacement in the ready sooner than later. If they don't think Mallet is that guy, neither should we. Quote:TMD, I'll give you credit for realizing the question was loaded. But I'll use the transitive property: Heres the problem. It all isn't equal. Bortles is going to have a higher price tag than Mallett, even though that (I believe, anyway) Mallett is the better QB. Of those 3 QB, I'd rank them in terms of wish list: Bridgewater Mallett Bortles yet in terms of cost Bridgewater is going prob 1st overall Bortles may go top 10-15 & Mallett if traded is likely to cost a 3rd rounder at most. So, me saying that I'd like Bortles in the 2nd round would be based off of the perceived value of him being taken 10-15 overall, thus us getting a major deal. If we can get Mallett, for a 3rd before the draft, obviously you then wouldn't be spending any high pick on Bortles. At that point I'd just hope we added someone like Murray or Mettenberger with a 3rd day pick as I told you I hope we ultimately bring in 2 QB, 1 being with a later pick.
From a fans perspective, I would hate to see mojo take the same route as Fred Taylor

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Quote:It wasn't scheme it was lack of production from players.Bingo. Some people will never understand this and look to blame what or whoever they can. Vince Lombardi could of coached this team and not do much better. Fisch showed some creativity later on in the season combined with an offense that improved following the bye week. Lets have a reality check here. The jags played the majority of the season with a 2nd or 3rd string Qb on some teams, a bad offensive line, no running game, and a wr corps that was filled with 2nd and 3rd string players. The defensive side of the ball was just as bad. The staff worked with a defensive line that lacked a pass rush most of the season, a very young secondary who also suffered from injuries, and a LB group that had only 1 real starter (poz) This team needs talent. Until then, the coaches can only do so much. 4 wins out of this group is a phenominal job. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Bingo. Some people will never understand this and look to blame what or whoever they can. True words sir. I would not be surprised if our first 4 picks are starters again next year.
Go Jaguars! Go Hokies!

Quote:I wouldn't have traded anything for Cassel. That was a dumb decision by whoever the GM of the Chiefs was. Problem is,the Pats have seen Mallet in practices, in meetings, and around the locker room, so they know him inside and out. What would it say about him that they were willing to trade him? One common rule of thumb is don't trade with a person who has lots more knowledge about the item in trade than you do.
Quote:Problem is,the Pats have seen Mallet in practices, in meetings, and around the locker room, so they know him inside and out. What would it say about him that they were willing to trade him? Then explain the Brunell & Hasselbeck trades. Green Bay knew him inside & out too.
Quote:Then explain the Brunell & Hasselbeck trades. Good point. I can't refute that. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Then explain the Brunell & Hasselbeck trades. This wasn't directed at me, but Favre was well within his prime at the time of the Brunell trade. They already had a starter in place, he was young, and Brunell wasn't going to unseat him. Regarding Hasselbeck, IIRC, Favre was still there, and they just drafted Aaron Rodgers. With New England, they have a 37 or so year old Brady, with nobody behind him except Mallet. If he can play, he'd be more valuable to New England than either Brunell or Hasselbeck were to the Packers at the time. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Then explain the Brunell & Hasselbeck trades.I can explain it, anomaly, Certainly outside of the norm.
Looking to troll? Don't bother, we supply our own.
Quote:Then explain the Brunell & Hasselbeck trades. Holmgren liked Hasselbeck while in GB. Holmgren traded for Hasselbeck once he got to Seattle. That example doesn't really apply to potentially trading for Mallett. Holmgren coached Hasselbeck for 2 years and had a pretty good feel for him, Hasselbeck wasn't an unknown entity to Holmgren as Mallett would be to pretty much any team trading for him.
Quote: Quote: OK, I couldn't wade through any more of this... SEVERAL years ago, MJD was tearing the league UP. I believe he was the rushing leader 3 (SEVERAL) years ago. Also, his hold out was NOT several years ago, it was 2 (a couple) years ago. You come on here and bloviate non-sense trying to make yourself look smart... But man, it's getting really hard to read anything you throw on the MB any more. I wish you would calm down your rhetoric a bit, or at least take a break and re-evaluate your posting style. TMD thinks MJD is bad too??!?
So he thinks Henne is bad, MJD is bad, Shorts is bad, Lewis is bad, and Sanders is bad....... but somehow how OC was suppose to work miracles?

Not everyone has to like him, (or forgive him) just because you do. Quote:TMD thinks MJD is bad too??!? MoJo isn't anything special "now". Are you seriously refuting that?? LOL< I guess you are like that other kid I responded to that thinks MoJo still has 1300 yard season's left in him. ![]() P.S. asking the OC to preside over a 300 point season total isn't asking for "miracles".
Quote:I hold a grudge against MoJo for how he handled the whole holdout stuff. I don't think MJD is anything special. I think our offense was bad and therefor I'm willing to cut the OC some slack. You can't turn crap into cake. |
