We have our 'employee appreciation lunch' today.  I'm so giddy I can hardly contain myself.  I'm sure this is supposed to make us feel better about our crappy bonuses this year.

Hmmmm.... I absolutely loathe being late to anything (thanks Army drill sergeants!) so I guess you have a point. The funny thing is, I have been out of the Army since the mid-90's and all of that stuff is still ingrained in my brain.


Example, we couldn't walk on grass at all unless we were doing PT or practicing marching for a ceremony, etc. To this day I avoid walking on grass if there is a sidewalk or some other means to get to my destination. Drives my husband nuts because he is a "shortest distance" kind of guy and my avoiding grass is obviously not compatible with his mindset. Lol.

I remember those days except we had awesome food and it was done quarterly since we got quarterly bonuses. They spent some money on all that food. Brought out those gigantic grills and cooked up burgers and chicken. Good stuff. That's when it was AT&T Universal credit card. When Citibank bought them out all the good perks and employee appreciation went by way of the dinosaur.

Just kinda sucks since I got such a great bonus my first two years here (three if you consider I was only here 6 months the first year when bonuses were handed out).  However, the company is up for sale and the powers that be didn't want to have all of the bonuses on the books.  I actually got the max allowable...which was paltry compared to the last two years.  I just find it funny that we're getting this 'appreciation lunch' and we oddly didn't get one the prior two years.  It's kind like...'well we screwed them over on their bonuses so lets give 'em a nice lunch'.  Whatever.  Caca occurs.
