Quote:Trump's first full month in office brings massive employment boom as U.S. companies added whopping 298,000 new jobs in FebruaryI wonder what would happen if unemployment ever got down to 4.7% for real. That would be like 1% on the U3. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:That was always a labor dept function. There are 6 different unemployment numbers they used to report. I think they stopped reporting U4, U5 and U6 several years ago. The number frequently reported is U2. www.shadowstats.com still calculates all 6 numbers. I think U6 is around 26%.You got the right place. Shadowstats is awesome for real unemployment. U3 is the new narrow focus, U6 was the broader one used till Bush (I believe). Both were changed/modified for Obama in 2009. I don't know about a U5 or U4. Reagan used something completely different at the beginning of his term. Basically U3 is half of U6 which is half of reality. See chart below, notice the changes after 2009. here we go: http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_dat...ent-charts ![]() Also a explanation of the terms: http://www.shadowstats.com/article/c810x.pdf Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! This one is my favorite. Comparing 1980's CPI to the current one. Every time I hear about how we have so 'little inflation' I laugh. Its the whole reason I found shadowstats in the first place.

I must live in a bubble, but I don't know anyone who was seeking employment and didn't find work. The only friend I had who was unemployed, was a stay at home dad while he went back to school. Once he started looking it took a couple month maybe. Also I don't the we should look at labor participation rate with an aging work force, or is that taken into consideration.
And cause I was a gazillionaire, and I liked doin it so much, I cut that grass for free.
