If you could get him on the cheap, or a contract that has clauses where he gets paid if he plays and doesn't get paid if he doesn't (and no or low guaranteed $) then I say go for it.
Between BB and Romo, let the best man win in Training Camp. Then you draft someone mid-round with an eye to drafting a potential franchise QB in 2018. What would there be to lose? Nothing...and what would there be to gain? The potential that Romo plays at 2014 form and puts the Jags in the playoffs. And If BB were to play better and win the job, then all the better!

Quote:Let's the best man win? Romo would win that easily. But in the process of winning it, he'd get injured and be out for the season. We show less advertisements to registered users. Thanks for seeing my point. ![]() Quote:Agreed, but I just want to point out, points per game is a team statistic, total yards and yards per play is a defensive statistic. We should judge a defense by defensive statistics. Points allowed per game in a deceptive stat especially when the offense is guilty of allowing so many points like this past season. We had a threat about this, but it was a while back so I don't recall the exact number... but there was something like 50 points you could pin on the offense between safeties allowed, pick sixes and turnovers leaving the opposing offense in FG range.

Quote:I think we would draft a QB at 4 rather than sign injury prone Romo. I just don't see this happening as I really feel Jonathan Allen will be the pick, but I wouldn't necessarily puke if Kizer was the pick at #4 with the though of him and Blake duking it out the Preseason to see which one is starting and which one is backing up, or in Blake's case possibly traded.

Quote:Watson would be the only QB I would consider at 4 if they know Bortles isnt there guy and let him walk next year. Watson seems like a player that could go to a team that already has a good roster in place and lead them to the playoffs. Im not a good scout but if he was the real deal I would take him. The worst thing that can happen is we have built a great defense and Bortles doesn't work out. We end up like the Texans or worse. I would prefer to get Fournette or DL and get a QB in round 2 or 3 but wouldn't mind if Watson was the pick. If Coughlin likes him I'm all in. Watson has a slow 49 mph throwing speed that concerns me greatly. I see NFL defenders getting a jump and picking him off. Heck, they get a jump on Blake's passes, and his throws were timed at 56 mph.

Because we have Blake we can take out Romo at any point if we suspect he's hurt to help mitigate any possible injuries. With any luck he'll get in something like 10 to 12 games overall, and whenever Blake does have to come in we'll get a good glimpse of his progress as he's tested.

So... what type of pass was clocked?

Quote:Once again, this is just so darn stupid. He's in the last year of his rookie contract. So you're going too put him on the bench for the year? How the hell do you know whether to extend him or not if he's on the darn bench? This 'idea' is just ridiculous. You extend Blake now... or even during the season... to a moderate contract with him expected to start in 2018 and beyond. We already know who he is, and with a year behind Romo he's sure to be even better.

We could get someone like Webb in round four, but he may not be any better than Brandon Allen who seriously looked impressive in last year's Preseason. I'm hesitant to make any move that has a likely potential of shoving Allen off the roster before we get a really good look at him. He came out in a class with several blockbuster QBs, and I have this suspicion that he's better than we even know.

So... what type of pass was clocked? Every year they clock their fast ball. As long as they're like 55 mph or over there's no worries, but under 50 is a concern. I've seen pros as low as 48, but the good ones that slow tend to be the exception rather than the rule.

You were more conservative with 37 pinned to the offense/ST. The point stands however that our offense/ST gave up way too many points last year and threw our defense under the bus way too often by comparison to other teams.
I see some merit in what Jags02 says. Just being around him could help him in areas like reading defenses better. Also, he regressed with his mechanics last year. When you've been throwing a certain way all your life, it's difficult to change and even harder to keep from reverting back to your old form when under pressure. It takes time for the new way to feel natural. A year behind Romo wouldn't hurt IMHO. Having said that.....even though I wouldn't oppose getting Romo at the right price, I don't see the FO pursuing him.

The 37 points you can definitely blame on the offense. The additional 29 points you assigned to the offense gets more subjective.
