I have no respect for McShay, but even a blind squirrel...  O.J. Howard shows every trait that you would look for in a generational all pro quality TE.  He's that divergent.  At current, he's bigger, faster, more agile, and just as strong as the two running backs that are being considered for the top ten.  Against LB's and Safeties he is going to be able to create instant mismatches with speed and he's plain bigger than slot corners.  He has the athletic potential to be SPECIAL at the TE position. 

 

Jonothen Allen didn't demonstrate that kind of divergence.  He looks more and more like your average starting 3 technique. 

 

Would you take Gronk or Alualu? 

 

If Thomas is there, that's a different story.  He's a guy who projects to PREMIUM PRODUCTION at a PREMIUM POSITION.  That makes sense.  But cook fournette both tested within the standard deviation for RB's and are more likely to be found later in the draft. 

 

All things being equal, TE is a huge risk at 4.  I normally wouldn't advocate it, but with Cambelle in the fold and thomas likely gone at 4, then anything is possible.

You can be a real jerk and say the man name right because no one mistake blake for Peyton Manning. He did however threw for 35 TD's in one year which is a lot more than most QB in NFL did in one particular year of their careers.

All I can think is how Julius Thomas caught 24 TDs in 2 seasons with Peyton Manning and he came here with Biff Bortles and caught like 9.


Picking a tight end at 4 would be hilarious.

 

Bortles looked at Thomas a lot when he actually played last year. He had 4 TDs on 30 catches, and that was with a slow, lazy tight end in a system that didn't use him properly.

I guess so, but I don't trust tight ends this much. It's really difficult to choose here, but I would take my chances with the 240 pound 4.5 speed running back from lsu. I think we should add a speed burner at wr some where along the line too. I know we have some good ones, but we can use one that can stretch the defense. At least we have lee. He stepped up huge last season. I do like Howard and if we did pick him, I would i think he has potential but a great running back would open this offense up. Ivory I like but he fumbled too much and yeldon was bad. Konyak is not bad actually.

Same here. Count me in on the OJ train, simply because he will probably have more longevity than Fournette or Cook. His floor is Mercedes Lewis, who's had only one first-round worthy season (in the Garrard days) but has spent a decade being a strong blocker and red-zone threat. I'll take that floor over a boom/bust RB.

 

In fact, I'd rather take the best edge rusher after Garrett and Solomon over a running back, even if it's considered a reach.

Howard isn't just a freak athlete, he can also block very well. This is why he is such a major upgrade over Julius, less predictability on offense due to Howards blocking and catching ability
