The simpler solution is younger and more educated people are more likely to be repulsed by certain parts of the republican ideology and therefore side with them less in general. I know you all just refuse to accept the dog whistles of racism, misogyny, bigotry, and xenophobia that people see in the right wing ideology but that's what causes those in institutions of higher learning to lean to the left. It's just easier for you to claim brainwashing and feel better about the changing world.

In other words, younger and more educated brainwashed people don't like the idea of personal responsibility and just want the government to give them more "free" stuff.  They are also the "snowflake generation" that easily get "triggered" by common words such as "he" or "she", and can't figure out which restroom to use.  The institutions of higher learning brainwashing have been taken over and infiltrated by far leftists with this stupid ideology.
