The Jags have focused on the Defense and invested heavily ;


After signing Malik Jackson and Tashaun Gipson, 6 of their 7 draft picks were on Defense including a top 4 of Jalen Ramsey, Myles Jack, Yannick Ngakoue and Sheldon Day.


In the most recent free agency 6 of 7 signings were on Defense including the top three of AJ Bouye, Calais Campbell and Barry Church.


I know we could " always use another pass rusher " and could use another DE and DT.


However, in my opinion, the upcoming draft MUST be all about OFFENSE for the first four picks.


I believe we can definitely get the RG we need in the 2nd round but for picks in rounds 1, 3 and 4 we must get in some order a RB, TE and OT.


I believe this could be accomplished best by trading back to Cleveland at # 12.


What are your thoughts ?

I agree but my point is that they need RB, OG, TE and OT and they should not get distracted by Defensive Players when the Offense must get better in filling those 4 holes. First 4 picks Offense only.

I think they have to consider the value on the board at each pick.  If there is a defensive player sitting there that they have graded higher than a RB,OG, OT or TE  -- he must be a consideration.  

 

A mid round corner or safety in this draft may turn out to be excellent value even if he only plays on special teams in 2017. We aren't 100% certain about Gipson, Barry Church will be 30 next year, and some quality CB depth will be fairly easy to find.  I wouldn't rule out a pick being used on one of the secondary if the right player falls.

Cann (3rd rounder..still has time)

Chris Ivory

Yeldon (2nd rounder..still has time)


At 4 I'd go BAP but this draft needs to be offense heavy especially at the offensive line.


Trade down with Cleveland or NO would be best case to accumulate picks.

I'd seriously consider Mahomes in the 2nd if available. I don't want Blake to be handed the starting job. He needs serious competition and should have to earn the job after regressing last year

(There will almost certainly be a higher rated prospect at #33 than Mahomes - who may be gone anyway because another team reaches for him in the first)

 

It's about need vs. value for early picks.  No one picks pure "BAP" unless their roster is stacked.  Teams will often take a player with a slightly lower rating that fills a need than one rated slightly higher that is redundant on their roster.  Happens all over the board every year. 

 

Pure BAP drafting is a magic unicorn to all but the best teams with the most complete rosters.

 For the rest of the teams BAP is relegated to the later rounds.
