Depends on the car. Most of the time it can be done but the additional labor isn't worth it. A new control arm you get the bushings and the ball joint it's just easier so the labor is less. It's like rebooting a CV axle propel just replace the Axle today.

 

Yes. I understand why it's common practice on many models to replace vs repack.  I'm just moaning about the cost.

While I'm at it - can I go ahead and complain about composite rotors as well?  I'll pay extra for some heavier rotors that can actually be turned once next time. Ugh.  I've got warped rotors after 20K miles of use.
