McShay's new mock draft: OJ Howard at #4 (merged threads)

Quote:Before we signed Church the TE at 4 is too high people were the S at 4 is too high people. The ratio is probably 100 to 1 with the 100 being people who say a TE is too high vs the people who are saying a S is too high.

Quote:Arguments like these are why no one takes your opinion seriously.Do you have an actual argument against anything im saying or just an insult tossed down from the high horse. Quote:Do you have an actual argument against anything im saying or just an insult tossed down from the high horse. There is no argument for Gronk being "best of all time" TE. Unless maybe you're a child who thinks everything that's happened in the last 10-15 years are the "best ever" of everything.

Quote:There is no argument for Gronk being "best of all time" TE.Hes 27 and already 3rd all time in touchdowns, single season receiving yards record for a tight end, single season touchdowns by a tight end, and 6000+ yards in 6 seasons. Obviously he hasnt passed Tony and Antonio because his career is half as long, but theres really no reason to scofff at the idea that were currently watching the tight end position be played the best its ever been. "everything thats happened in the last 10-15 years is the best thing ever" is a bad stance to take since a sizeavle portion of the best tight ends ever have been active at in this period.
But whatever man i get it youre old and have fond memories of watching mike ditka in high school and anything these damn millennials like isnt good enough. Gronk is a great weapon and the best tight end in football right now. In terms of talent though, he's not the best ever. Gonzalez is the best tight end I've ever seen play the game. Gronk doesn't come close to Gonzalez in talent. In production? Sure he's on a great pace, but the rules are different in this era and he has the greatest QB of all time throwing him the ball. I'd take gates in his prime over gronk and probably a couple other guys too. As the tight end position becomes more important in modern football, other guys will surpass him too.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
I'm taking a healthy Gronk at his peak over any other tight end in NFL history
Gronk is the only one that is among the best all time receiving tight ends and also among the best all time blocking tight ends. Gonzalez and Gates were both turnstiles in the other half of the game.
It's like trying to argue Nowitzki or Nash are the best at their positions all time despite ignoring the other half of the floor. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I'll admit, the video of him flipping and catching a 55lb weight with one hand is impressive.

The best situation for the jags would be to trade down a little bit and just take OJ. I like fournette but if we can get extra picks and Howard, that's max value for me.

Quote:If Solomon Thomas is gone, I think this is the best case scenario.I'm not as big of a fan of Thomas as some but I wouldn't be mad at all if we did take him. He looks like a potential stud. I'd rate him probably on par with OJ but the possibility of extra picks pushes him above Thomas for me. I know that guy isn't gonna slide to 8 haha. I'm hoping for a miracle situation where we trade down, get oj, and somehow also wind up with lamp.

He looks like a potential stud.I think if the Jags were to get Thomas, you are looking at constant pressure from the Dline. They will be able to sub in and out while keeping the pressure on and keeping guys fresh. It appears Thomas will be gone though so a trade down would be ideal. The problem is finding a partner. There are no stud QBs this year and next years class is really good so no one wants to trade next years 1st to move up. This is a tricky tricky draft year. No idea what will happen once Garrett gets picked and that doesn't happen often. Quote: http://www.draftseason.com/2017/03/22/pl...e-jaguars/ Odd that the writer is so focused on tackle and not guard in round two. I know that a couple of those tackles could play guard, but I like some of the guard prospects better in the second round over Moton or Garcia. We show less advertisements to registered users. Think we need to upgrade guard and right tackle.
