As deep as this draft is at tight end and running back, those positions don't compare to the crazy depth at cornerback. Teams will get potential immediate starters in the 3rd round and probably quality developmental players in the 4th and 5th. Although the Jaguars are very strong with Ramsay and Bouye, it wouldn't surprise me to see them draft someone in the 4th or 5th round who initially contributes on special teams.

I put the guys like White and Jones who disappointed compared to KKing and Adoree athletically, but show better skills right now, in the same tier 5-10 overall.

 

I couldn't keep White and Jones in the same tier as Moreau and Humphrey who also show good skills on tape and blew them away athletically too though. 

 

 

I understand Jones because he injured himself at the end of his 40, but how did White "disappoint"? Granted it wasn't a "wow" combine performance, but he didn't drop a bomb anywhere that makes you want to downgrade him from what you see on tape. He ran in the 4.4s, had a 6.90 3-cone, etc,... good enough. I actually did lower White one spot behind Conely due to their respective combines, but that's only because they were already so close.


 

Moreau had an awesome combine and is clearly a sensational athlete, but he's just so raw as his nfl.com weaknesses explain...

I do like Moreau, but you'd have to rank him and draft him as a developmental CB who may not really be ready until 2018. Knowing this I'm tempted to draft another guy who won't be ready until 2018, and that would be Sidney Jones. That said, I'm not drafting either CB ahead of a solid day one starter on the outside like Tre'Davious White.


 

Also keep in mind Moreau had a Lis Frank in 2015 and those often come back to haunt DBs.

I finally found the video of Mayock talking about Adoree and why he put him on the "Special Exceptions" list. I thought this might be due to some kind of red flag situation, but fortunately it's not that at all. He's saying the players on the list are guys worth talking about who he simply can't put in the top five of any category, in this case cornerback. Mayock said that while Adoree does not exactly compare to the top five corners in this class, he still has some room to develop into a fine corner and brings with him outstanding return abilities on special teams.


 

Personally I view Adoree as one of the top nickel backs in this draft while agreeing with Mayock that at CB he's simply not top five material. ...not in this draft.

White was only average in the 40 and 3 cone, and really bad in the jumps and shuttles. Good for 14% SPARQ, 2nd worst in this class of the 19 people who did enough to qualify for SPARQ.

Still, he didn't totally bomb like Teez. Rather, his results were glaringly average, but nothing so bad to say he's not going to be an immediate impact starter. I can see dropping him maybe even behind Quincy Wilson. Wilson had similar results... even slower with a 4.54 40... but he's a gamer on film and he's 6-1, 211. But I'm not dropping White behind developmental guys.

i am guessing something is wrong because as you said he was very very good in college. if he really is that slow of a player though, and somehow was able to hide it in college, he may need to work on transitioning to safety.

Of the people I trust Lattimore was head and shoulders #1, and then the rest of the top 5 was filled with Conley, Humphrey, Wilson, Sidney Jones, and Tre White more often than Tabor.

Has anyone given much thought to Adoree Jackson at #35... or if he's amazingly still there in round three?


 

The guy seriously intrigues me.


 

He projects to be a day one starter as a nickel CB... but he's more than that as a football player. Jackson was a former WR so he's got hands to intercept the pass along with exceptional return ability. It's thought he may be elite return specialist on teams.
