Quote:Look, guys. Size and strength are only means to an end!

Blaine Gabbert is one of the biggest QB's in the NFL (6'5 I believe) and he flat out sucks. Everyone knows this, and knows that despite him having 'all the tools', he can't produce, so he's nothing.

So if we were presented with someone who doesn't have the stature, but has the attitude, the production, and the supreme talent, why would we not take him?

Dude, you admittedly have a humongous man-love for Johnny Football.  Size and strength are not why people like Bortles.  He's got pocket presence, elusiveness, mobility, and he very obviously is a smart QB.  He's much less of a project than Manziel.  I'd be okay with either one at 3.

Dead accuracy under pressure=

Down 28 to 10. 2nd quarter with 7 minutes left. His defense has not stopped Duke once on offense. It's 4th and goal at the 9. Ya gotta go for it. A field goal won't do it for ya. In the pocket with the rush in his face, he hits his receiver ON A DIME in the corner of the end zone. A do or die play. Don't talk to me about subpar accuracy or accuracy under pressure. You lose all of your credibility to me.

Quote:Man if we could put manziel into bortles body I'd take that. Bortles looks the part and he's certainly better in the pocket than gabbert. But he isn't consistently accurate or mechanically sound enough for my liking with such a high pick.
what does the QB class look like next year, Because if there's a ton of talent coming out next year, and Bortles is getting mocked in the first this year, and advised in the 2nd this year, it might be better for him to come out this year than risk his stock to drop a ton between the possibility of a poor performance and more superior talent coming out next year.

Quote:Which was the point. Being a great college QB doesn't mean you'll be a good NFL QB. The fact that Manziel was great in college will mean nothing in the NFL, and just because Bortles wasn't a Heisman-winning QB in college (although he was very good for UCF) doesn't mean he can't be a great NFL QB.

Oh I understand that. But also, just because Manziel was great in college doesn't mean he'll be a Tebow in the NFL,  either.

I could care less about the Heisman. I honestly don't give that a thought when evaluating Manziel.

Like I've said before. I've watched Bortles' game tonight, and Manziel's game last night. We are assuming that each will be available for us at our pick, therefore this was their last game, where they (at least theoretically) would be at the top of their game, the epitomy of their college careers.

Show me one thing - one trait, one play, one intangible - that Bortles has over Manziel. I haven't seen any.

Nothing Manziel does is orthodox. Of course I take Teddy over anyone, but the decision seems to be between Manziel, Bortles, or possibly Carr. Regardless, I still want Fales in the 3rd or 4th

JaguarKick, I have a 'man-love' for people who I consider will be franchise QBs. That's why I love Teddy and Manziel.

I can find a dead accurate pass from Gabbert in any given game.  Measure accuracy by how often they're inaccurate instead of how many are accurately thrown.

Yeah, I will admit, though. As much as I dislike Bortles, he is much more consistent and better in the face of pressure than Carr.

One play. He doesn't do that consistently in the pocket. Again, he's absolutely phenomenal on the fly, though. I just don't think his skills "on the fly" are going to mean anything in the NFL. If he runs around in the backfield in the pros like he does in college, he'll get ripped in half.

And, lol, Manziel's supporters are getting testy. You think I'm upset that I've "lost credibility" to you? haha

welp i'm off for the night, gotta drive back home tomorrow, was good watching with everyone. For the record I like Bortles cause he'll take a hit and still deliver the ball.

Way to go UCF! Earlier in the year I was hoping for Clowney and Bortles as the 1st/2nd round combo, I'd still be happy with that but if the team goes in another direction for the QB that's all fine.
