Ranking the CBs

#61

I bumped Teez down to the mid 3rd round. There's just too much talent at the position to take a slower CB lacking in size any higher than that.

Quote:Has anyone given much thought to Adoree Jackson at #35... or if he's amazingly still there in round three?

The guy seriously intrigues me.

He projects to be a day one starter as a nickel CB... but he's more than that as a football player. Jackson was a former WR so he's got hands to intercept the pass along with exceptional return ability. It's thought he may be elite return specialist on teams.
He's more athlete than actual corner right now, but he has the potential to look very wise for whoever takes him in the 2nd round. Just like with Myles Jack at RB last year, there are a fair bit of people who think he should give up on corner and go back to full time WR.

I feel he should stick at CB. I can see him playing a little outside as well in a short zone role similar to how we used Aaron Beasley.

Interesting thing they talked about at the combine Jackson has never had spring football in college because he also ran track for USC.

As of right now fundamentally he's got some work to do, so OTAs and training camp will be important for him.

I'm going to slightly re-rank my top 10 given the risers and fallers I'm noticing early in the draft...

 1. Marshon Lattimore

 2. Gareon Conley

 3. Marlon Humphrey

 4. Tre’Davious White

 5. Kevin King

 6. Chidobe Awuzie

 7. Quincy Wilson

 8. Cordrea Tankersley

 9. Fabian Monroe

 10. Desmond King

 11. Adoree Jackson

 12. Jourdan Lewis

Lattimore and Conley have been 1-2 for a long time. They're both so good and great athletes.

If we are talking pure CB prospects Adoree Jackson shouldn't be that high.

Actually I lowed him behind Desmond King for that very reason, but his overall skill-set keeps him higher. I think it's Jeremiah's mock on nfl.com that has Adoree going to the Saints at the end of round one.

I'd have him a good deal lower. He gave up 7 TDs in coverage this year. Nice athlete but tons ofberter cbs than him

Yep he's an athlete playing corner, and a not small number of draftniks thinks he was better at WR. He's definitely got upside but it's all projection right now.

I don't know. He's a bit raw, but his ball skills and athleticism count for a lot. Immediately he should be a fine nickel CB, and I can see him outside as a zone CB where he just might be prone to create pick-sixes given his hands and return skills. He's just such an intriguing prospect overall. In other words I hear you saying that better cover guys can be found in round four, but that doesn't change the liklihood that Adoree is getting drafted in round two.

When I watch him I see a bad corner with great highlights. He'd get eaten in the nickel day 1 in the NFL.

Sure I get the upside in theory from people. If he comes good you have a freaky athlete at corner who can bring one to the house. But in reality he isn't very good compared to the many very good cbs in the class. Definitely a guy who will get drafted higher than he should though I agree.
