This is dead now. Just saw an ESPN update. Cowboys are expected to release him today and he plans on retiring and entering the broadcast booth. Good for him.
![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie? I, who was born in a naked land and bred in the open sky. The subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing; Rush in and die, dogs - I was a man before I was a king."
With the news coming out of Dallas that Romo intends to retire, I guess Houston can hope Cleveland releases Osweiller.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:What's Romo's legacy? He was better than mediocre.
Good move by Romo. He has money, will still make a ton of money, gets to keep what health he has left, and best of all, Houston is stuck with Savage.

Quote:He was better than mediocre. The Cowboys were mostly mediocre with him at QB. He only won 2 playoff games.

Quote:What's Romo's legacy? Top 5 career QB rating.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:Top 5 career QB rating. The stat where Colin Kaepernick, Andy Dalton, Kirk Cousins, Matt Schaub and Chad Pennington are in the top 16 of all time?

Somebody said earlier he was a borderline HOF'r....WHAT?
Have you seen my baseball?

Quote:Somebody said earlier he was a borderline HOF'r....WHAT? It's laughable. He belongs in the Hall of Good with quarterbacks like Matt Hasselbeck, Donovan McNabb and Randall Cunningham.

Quote:The Cowboys were mostly mediocre with him at QB. I think the problem here is through all the circus, people forget the guy was undrafted. HOF'er? No way, Mediocre? Not at all. If mediocre is giving your team a legit chance of making the playoffs every year, then I want a mediocre QB.

If mediocre is giving your team a legit chance of making the playoffs every year, then I want a mediocre QB. I mean mediocrity in that his team was regularly 8-8. He only won more than 8 games three times in his career, and only won 2 playoff games. And how many times did the Cowboys have a chance to make the playoffs, only to lose the final regular season game? I think he was a good quarterback. But there are probably a dozen quarterbacks in his own era you would take over Romo.

Well yeah, but looking at this through the lens of a Jaguar fan, I'd take him over any QB we have ever had after Mark B. We show less advertisements to registered users. Yeah, he was a good QB. HOF material?? Uh,,,, no.
The knock on Romo for many of his seasons was that he couldn't get it done late in seasons and choked in big games when a lot was on the line. People forget that his "December record/futility" was talked about continuously for a lot of years. Remember the week 17 game Cowboys vs Redskins that was for the NFCE Title and a trip to the playoffs (2013 IIRC; maybe 2012)? Romo throws a RIDICULOUS INT in the flat deep in his own territory, late in the 4th, with the game on the line. Redskins won, and RGIII plays the next week in the playoffs. Quote:Top 5 career QB rating.Which means nothing at all when there are two playoff wins.

Good. I honestly never understood anybodys logic in that signing him for next season would be beneficial for anybody.
