Quote:pffffft. those are 2 of the most visited busts in canton.....right?
C'mon, I think we know Cousins isn't eligible for the Hall for at least 5 years Wink

Pennington was good.  Not unsurprising that he had a high completion %.  Dude didn't have a strong enough arm to attempt lower percentage throws.

Quote:3rd all time in passer rating.

4th all time in completion percentage.

5th all time in TD:INT.

4th all time in yards per attempt.

4th all time in ANY/A.

11th all time in win%.

93.0 playoff passer rating, better than Tom Brady's 89.0.

Are you including only people who played a certain amount of games?

Because if you're not then a few of these stats are wrong.

Yes every career stat has a minimum sample size threshold. This is out of the 95 QBs that have 3,000+ career passes.

So because they played in different eras, HOFers like Otto Graham and Sid Luckman don't go on the list.

Who defined this threshold?

It looks like the originator used PFFs 3k threshold. If you use PFRs 1.5k threshold Romo falls 1-2 spots in a couple of the categories.

Are you trying to argue that if instead of 3, 4, 4, 5, 4 all time across the important rates it's actually more like 5, 6, 6, 5 ,4 all time he shouldn't make it? Or are you just nitpicking for no reason?

I don't think he should make it into the hall of fame either way.

Statistically speaking I was trying to figure out where you got your stats from because things seemed a little off and you have posted things before without checking their accuracy first.

1.5k is like 3 years, not an acceptable threshold IMO. 3k is appropriate.

Edit: actually lots of QB's had 600 attempts last year. 1500 is a joke.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Anybody know how many HOF QBs have never been to a conference championship game?

If he has more years like last year than not going forward then yes.

Doesn't even need to play like last year for it. If he continues to play above average or so for the next few years he'll have it.

I don't really care too much about his compiling stats, his advanced rate stats are good but last year was the first year they were really exceptional. I don't think he was on a hall of fame trajectory until then.

No but the hall of fame do. By the time he's in his late 30s he'll be tops in tons of categories. I don't think he's had a hall of fame career but that's the way its going.

While you'd like to see playoff success on a team level, this would mean more if he played bad in the playoffs. His playoff passer rating is 11th highest all time, ahead of Brady, Big Ben, both Mannings, Marino, Elway, Bradshaw, etc. It's certainly not his fault they didn't advance.

There is definitely a difference between will be and should be you're right. I do agree he will be, I don't agree he should be unless he has several more seasons last last year. Which is quite possible.

LOL.  The idea of Tony Romo going to the HOF....

Was he a good QB?  Certainly.  However, he is nowhere worthy enough to be in the Hall of Fame.  I would argue that his most famous and greatest accomplishment is doing Jessica Simpson.

Yeah, she was an upgrade over Carrie Underwood.  But he traded up, IMHO, from Jessica to his wife, Miss Missouri.

Exactly.

Anyone trying to argue for Romo into the HOF needs to lay off the pipe.

Good QB, yes.

HOF QB, hell-to-the-no.
