Consensus Jags fan draft wants, Round 1 & 2
|
Quote:He does not fit though. Your taking a power running back. With hardly change of line. And a shotgun qb and saying. Okay Fournette do the same as LSU. From farther back and with faster linemen coming at you. We can fix it in later rounds and in subsequent offseasons. Why pass on an elite player simply because you don't have the pieces to go around him yet? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I like the idea of trading back with a team that desperately wants a QB - say, the Jets. Get their first this year, plus their second this year, plus a first next year. Then we use that first this year to draft someone safe - like OJ Howard. With the two seconds, we take a RB and an OL.
The TU had a history of the Jags first round picks, and it depressed me for the rest of the day. Enough. Let's get someone who's virtually guaranteed to play up to the hype. That means someone relatively safe. I'm tired of taking a chance on first round talent, with guys who had a 'tremendous upside' but also carried risks, and didn't pan out. I'm thinking of Matt Jones Alualu, Blackmon, Soward, Harvey, Gabbert. I feel Fournette fits in that category as well.
Fournette + Guard (Feeney/Dawkins)
If we can trade down and get an extra 2nd or 3rd: McCaffrey + guard (Feeney/Dawkins) + tackle (Moton/Garcia/Johnson)
Just don't get the LF love. He just doesn't fit our system. I wouldn't mind a defensive pick to add on to our already great defense (on paper)... but I think OJ Howard helps us the most. He can block and help out Blake out the most immediately.
If Marrone / Tom do indeed bring back a FB and bigger sets... Howard would be a tremendous weapon (even more than LF) in the play action / running game.
A consensus appears to be forming.

But Bortles is most comfortable in the shotgun, and LF isn't. That's a big problem, don't you think?
I sure hope they draft a QB. I've lost all hope for Bortles. He's a pick 6 machine.

Fournette then keep stacking oline..
