NFL scouts on Manziel.. "He's another Favre"..

#61

Quote:Brett Favre's attitude cannot be compared that way. Nobody ever said he had a character or personality issue, even after he was fined for being late to a team meeting. I can't see a psychological comparison at all.

I think its the psychological way he plays the game. Willing to take a risk and doesn’t get to him. Also how players thrive of his enthusiasm and passion for the game.

Quote:The fact I've seen him standing next to 6' tall men and being the same size as them? Even on First Take, Skip Bayless is listed as 5'10''. Johnny is at least an inch and a half taller than Bayless standing directly next to him, closer to 2.

He ain't 6'0 bro. No way.

Quote:They are lying about his hands.  Looks like normal sized hands for his frame to me.

Nobody's lying and there's no conspiracy. Manziel's hand and feet are in fact HUGE. Bigger than Teddy's and Bortles I'm pretty sure. And this explains Johnny's ungodly ability to scramble and ball control.

He put his game worn shoes and jersey vs Bama up for action at 'Heritage Auction'.

His signed cleats ended up being FREAKIN SIZE 15

Whodathunk, the kid has bigger feat than Jameis Winston!

And I don't know what to tell you about his hands, other than that everybody who's ever met him talks about how big they are.

Former A&M quarterbacks coach Tom Rossley spent 11 years in the NFL. His view on Manziel as an NFL quarterback:
"He has huge hands and I can't tell you how important that is in the NFL. He has a quick release and is a lot more accurate than given credit for. I don't see his size being a hindrance. He is bigger than Russell Wilson [rookie starter for Seattle Seahawks] and bigger than [New Orleans quarterback] Drew Brees. I think he can be better."

He makes football look like little kid toys when holding them. Looks pretty obvious that his hands are certainly BIG enough.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

LOL, his feet too....they look like cartoon feet they are so disproportionate.

But thats good for him, as it aids in his body control when eluding pass rushers.

I know, if he wasn't so good, you'd almost feel sorry for the kid.

Quote:Manziel will measure at 5'10" 175 lbs in the combine. Looks like he wears a size medium t-shirt with those wimpy shoulders and frame. He probably only benches 225 lbs 5 times. They are lying about his hands. Looks like normal sized hands for his frame to me.

175 would be 65 lbs less than Teo. No way.

...

Brett Favre yanked around the entire Green Bay organization season after season with his "I dunno guys, I think I may retire this year" schpiel. He played his heart out on gameday, but he you had to deal with him on his terms during the week. That's the point of the comparison.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

I think Johnny is closer to 5 "11" and 190lbs.  He will gain more weight before the combine.  He reminds me of Doug Flutie in size and play style.

I've said it in other threads 100x, who the heck cares about how big he is? It's all about his playstyle. RG3 is 6'2'' and ripped as hell, EJ Manuel is big and built like a god...and both of them got snapped in half in their very first seasons because they don't protect themselves on the field.

Big or small doesn't matter if they don't protect themselves they will get hurt, and Johnny goes out of his way NOT to protect himself. That's what is scary, not his size or lack of it.

Just finished watching the SF/GB game. One of the things I noticed was how effective it was to be mobile in the pocket and extend the play on huge 3rd down plays. Rodgers is so good at it.....good pocket awareness......escapability.....rolling out.....finding the open receiver. Rodgers made 2 huge plays doing that. He's slippery. Kaepernick also helped win the game making huge runs to barely get a first down on do or die 3rd down plays at the end. Also, how many times did Luck take off and run when receivers were covered. It's these characteristics that really drive defenses crazy. Manziel has the escapability, the slipperiness, the pocket awareness, being able to avoid the rush and extend the play, being able to tuck it and run.......he has all of these in Spades. If we don't get him, I hope that Texas or Tennessee does not. If fact, I don't want him in our conference. If he is able to adapt to the NFL, I feel this guy will be a monster.

And once again, that's the thing. There's absolutely no middle ground. If he translates, he's a star. If not, he's toast.

Yes....that's the thing......personally, I think he will be able to......unlike a Tebow who can't throw worth a dang and his way of escaping is by using power and not speed.......he's a bright kid......he adapted to the college game.......he will, given some time, be able to adapt

Judging by that picture, he looks closest in height to Williams.

My prediction: Manziel will measure in at 6' and 205 lbs.  Run something like a 4.55 forty.

I would take him with our 3rd pick I think.

He's way faster than a 4.5, man. Gabbert ran a 4.5

Gabbert ran a 4.61

My guess for JF is about a 4.52 to 4.56. Slightly faster than Cam.

You're right, my bad. I knew it was in the upper 4.5s to lower 4.6s. Did you look that up? Cause if you just knew that, you are top notch sir.
