How many more Manziel threads get started before the mods condense them into one giant thread like Tebow in 2010?

This is Tebowmania all over again. Timmy got his own "Mega-Tebow Thread". Looks like it's time for Johnny to get the same honor. This would also give a thread for all the fan-bros registering with Manziel-inspired names.

It didn't matter how he played, stupid people wanted him regardless. And so you could show these people his bad throwing motion, his actual stats, etc, and they didn't care. Manziel's different. He's got no connection to Jacksonville, other than that he's one of the best QBs in the draft this year; most NFL scouts are saying he's a top 2 QB prospect. We want him because of his play and on-field antics, not his hometown or history here in Jax. And IMO, you really shouldn't disparage the excitement on the boards, it's been a long time since Jaguars have had this. You should have seen it in Indy, Washington, and Carolina the months before they picked their franchise guy too, over the last few years. I guarantee all their forum posts were all about evaluating Newton, and arguing who's a better pick "pro-style Luck or dual-threat RG3". The excitement and the question is the same OP. It's just now that instead of "pro-style Luck or dual-threat RG3", it's "pro-style Bridgewater or dual-threat Manziel". Try to enjoy this time, and I mean that sincerely, it's been a long time coming for us Jaguars.
I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Someone needs to create a thread about how this thread needs to be merged into one big manziel thread. Quote:This is Tebowmania all over again. Timmy got his own "Mega-Tebow Thread". Manziel is nothing like tebow and the tebow crowd is a whole different ball game. They only wanted him here because he was from jacksonville and this false perception he'd sell tickets. People want Manziel, because he actually has a chance to be a franchise player. Yes, he has height issues and his style is a little different. But he actually can sit in the pocket and make throws. He has very good accuracy and puts the ball where he wants. He has a chance to be good. He's like a Drew Bree's and mike Vick combined. However, how he plays could also not transition to pros. His size and the runs he does could make him injury prone.
You don't have to like Manziel, but he is no tebow, and the fans are not deranged like the tebow ones. Quote:Manziel is nothing like tebow and the tebow crowd is a whole different ball game. Manzielinteal, JFF4lyfe, JohnnyJaguar...just those 3 that I can think off in 5 seconds that came to this boards specifically to stump for their idol. I want Jags fans here not player fans. If the Jags don't draft him or if they draft Manziel and he busts they'll be gone just as fast as he is. They are not as hardcore or as numerous as the Tebow cult (yet), but they are similar.
I really hope Caldwell doesn't get hung up on his height or those overblown "issues". I think, even if there's a situation where they have another QB graded at like an 88 (lie Bridgewater) and have Manziel at an 86, they should take Manziel. He just could bring so much to this franchise and his upside is unparalleled.

It feels a lot like Tebowmania. A lot of people I hear mention his name say he's on the same level as Bridgewater (or better in some cases) and it's mind-boggling. I think a lot of those people don't realize how much the game speeds up from college to the pros and they don't realize what skills QBs need at that higher level. Maybe the guy adapts and becomes a decent QB, but he's way too much of a gamble for my tastes at #3.

The only thing I can't figure out though is why you(and a lot of other people) think Bridgewater is such a safe-bet? Or any safer than Manziel who consistently played better against better competition. Listen, I know, I know. You've heard every Tebow and Vick comparison under the sun. Manziel's too small, will get hurt, etc. And it's rote by now to think he's "a gamble" of a pick. But you wanna hear my opinion of a gamble? Only 2 QBs from non-major/BCS conferences(SEC, PAC, BIG-10, BIG-12, ACC) have been taken #1 overall in the draft in the last 15-years 1)David Carr from Fresno State 2)Alex Smith from Utah  IMO, if anything, history has shown that it's extremely difficult for the smaller-conference guys who haven't even played the best in college, to transition to the NFL game and lead a franchise in their first year against, like you said, the speed of the pros. If Teddy is taken #1, he will be the third in that distinguished list. To be clear, I'm not saying Teddy is bad, and I do think he can be the top pick this year. Just showing that anybody can do unpleasant comparisons, and IMO, every QB-prospect this year is a gamble on some level.

Quote:You have to be able to gamble somewhat on QBs and can't be gunshy, but Bridgewater and Manziel are two completely different players. I don't think Bridgewater is a sure-fire blue-chip QB prospect by any means, but I think he has a lot better grasp on the fundamentals that are needed to succeed at the next level.

Your points are inarguable and they're good. Still, I can't forget this: The last 3-QBs to have won the heisman have all been unorthodox, unfundamental, non traditional, dual-threat, mobile Quarterbacks, who all broke the NFL mold and didn't adhere to the traditional NFL norms. Two of them(Cam Newton are RG3) are starting franchise QBs in the NFL. Surely the third QB(Manziel), who surpassed both his predecessor's collegiate achievements, deserves an equally top pick and similar franchise position. Not arguing with you, just thinking out loud.
