Bradley's Staff to Coach Senior Bowl

Caldwell on one side and his former master Dimitroff on the other. It's like watching Luke and Vader.

Last 12 coaches to coach in the Senior Bowl:
2008 South 17 North 16 Lane Kiffin, Oakland Raiders Mike Nolan, San Francisco 49ers notes 2009 South 35 North 18 Marvin Lewis, Cincinnati Bengals Jack Del Rio, Jacksonville Jaguars notes 2010 North 31 South 13 Jim Schwartz, Detroit Lions Tony Sparano, Miami Dolphins notes 2011 South 24 North 10 Marvin Lewis, Cincinnati Bengals Chan Gailey, Buffalo Bills notes 2012 North 23 South 13 Leslie Frazier, Minnesota Vikings Mike Shanahan, Washington Redskins notes 2013 South 21 North 16 Dennis Allen, Oakland Raiders Jim Schwartz, Detroit Lions Only 2 on there are still currently head coaches. I wouldn't call it an advantage to coach in the Senior Bowl. Just seems like "Eh... ok" Does it mean we are definitely going to hit on our draft picks because we are coaching? Absolutely not. Will it help? Probably not that much since the players we want to draft as underclassmen (Clowney, Manziel, Bridgewater)
Quote:Don't all teams send representatives and coaches to Mobile for that week anyway? Is it really that much of a benefit over any other normal year?Your constant negativity is annoying. What a miserable life you must lead.

Quote:Atlanta's staff will be coaching the North squad. That alone might send a certain someone spiraling out of control. Mike Smith is so overrated. Koetter is pretty good though.
Quote:Will it help? Probably not that much since the players we want to draft as underclassmen (Clowney, Manziel, Bridgewater) It's a 7 round draft. FYI.
Quote:Jack Del Rio and his staff coached the winning Senior Bowl South team in 2009, the same year the Jaguars drafted Eugene Monroe, Eben Britton, Terence Knighton, Derek Cox, Mike Thomas, Jarett Dillard, Zach Miller, Rashad Jennings and Tiquan Underwood. Russel Allen was signed as an UDFA that year, also. Only Allen remains on the roster. Interesting.
Quote:Will it help? Probably not that much since the players we want to draft as underclassmen (Clowney, Manziel, Bridgewater) Let's not forget there are 7 rounds in the draft and we have a total of 10 picks barring any potential pre-draft trades. It's not all about the number 3 pick. I think where this might help more is in the middle of the draft personally. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Better chance at evaluating players by coaching them rather than just "some" scouts and coaches watching.
It isn't about just seeing players you want... it is also about eliminating players you don't. Remember Tebow's Senior Bowl. Atrocious. Wonder if McDaniels was there. lol Quote:Better chance at evaluating players by coaching them rather than just "some" scouts and coaches watching.IF McDaniels goes to the brownies, whats the odds he calls up timmy!?!
Quote:Interesting. Also interesting is Detroit got to see Ansah and Warford at the Senior Bowl last year and both shined as rookies. Quote:It'll be a glittery descent. Not a bad guess, but I had someone else in mind. Someone who might not understand how a coach from a major southern city could be coaching the north squad, especially when considering that Jacksonville is further south than Atlanta.
If something can corrupt you, you're corrupted already.

Is it really that much of a benefit over any other normal year? This is the type of break that could propel the Jaguars substantially in their rebuilding program. Instead of going into words on this topic at this time like I did during the recently completed season, I'll provide a link to the quotes from Lions GM Martin Mayhew following the Lions 2013 Draft: http://blogs.detroitlions.com/2013/04/27...ars-draft/ Quote:Awww, did that post which was a solid question bother you that much? Well, you must admit that the coaching staff that is working with the players both in practice and during the game will get a little more insight into each player's potential than those just observing.

All of those teams had poor records and coaching was probably a big part of that. Quote:Also interesting is Detroit got to see Ansah and Warford at the Senior Bowl last year and both shined as rookies. Exactly. Both players had major question marks going into the Senior Bowl process. They both turned out to be great picks, with the Senior Bowl week making the difference in the Lions selecting them. Quote:Last 12 coaches to coach in the Senior Bowl: It's worth keeping in mind though that in the case of the Lions, Vikings, and Redskins, the GM's that were around during those Senior Bowls are still in place with the respective organizations. The potential for major continuity can still exist. In the case of the Dolphins, the GM is still currently around but might not be in the days or weeks ahead.
While I agree it should be an added benefit to coach the team, unlike Gene Smith, I believe the reality test was whether a dude could line up and play on Saturdays, not practicing in shorts on a Tuesday morning.

I understand that there are more rounds than just round 1 but if coaching the senior bowl made that much of a difference, wouldn't more coaches be chomping at the bit to coach? |
