Victor Cruz visiting Jags

#1

Per reports Former Giants WR Victor Cruz is visiting the Jaguars and his former HC Tom Coughlin, as @TomPelissero reported.

I like this move. Think he still has more in tank.

Anyone watch the 30 for 30 documentary about Victor Cruz?

Very cool story.

Raised by his mom

Father came back into his life then ended up committing suicide in 2007

Flunked out of college then got his act together and went back (UMass) and turned about to be a productive player.

Big moment in preseason when he scored a TD on his 1st reception after coming to the Giants (his hometown team -- he's from Patterson NJ) as an UFA in 2010.

injury bug receiver.  I think the jags are thinking about moving on from one of the allens.

Meh.  This is probably more of a courtesy because he was one of TC's guys.

Yes, nothing screams moving on from a young receiver like bringing in an old injury bug receiver.

If he's healthy he can be a valuable vet for Bortles. This team needs a few more offensive vets and he wouldn't really be taking anyone's spot.

Is Greene still eligible for PS? If so then I like this line up. Make AB the 6th guy and the rest get stashed.

I like this move. Take some pressure off Westbrook. Cruz isn't old and if he stays healthy he can an add nice number of yards to the Jags offense. Good vet piece.

Will he be dancing for a bowl of chunky soup?

Dede is set to be the primary slot WR, but I still see the Jaguars keeping a true slot WR as their 6th WR. I can totally see Cruz challenging Walters, Greene and Wynn for that spot.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Hurns 4th on that depth chart in 2018.

I have big doubts on whether Cruz has enough left in the tank to warrant a roster spot over younger guys with ST value.  (Benn, Greene)

I think we're already crazy deep at WR, but never hurts to take a look. If he's hungry and in shape and ok with a cheap contract, he's shown he can be productive. But I don't expect much to come of this, and I'm fine with that as I really like our WR group both veterans and new guys. And I'm excited about Keenan as a coach. I think he'll be fantastic.

I certainly do.  They are not keeping AR15 unless he proves it.  So makes perfect sense.
