8th Graders Skip Out on Paul Ryan
|
Quote:I asked you first. Quote:Because the great thing about an opinion is that anyone can have them. You guys are two peas in a pod. I just hope you don't attempt to brainwash your 1 year old and never give he/she a chance to form their own opinions in life. If you can't see an issue with a 14 year old having a strong political opinion, I can't help you. It's not their fault, it is bad parenting. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:Why shouldn't an 8th grader have a political opinion? That seems ridiculous to think they shouldn't Not really. When you were in 8th grade I'm certainly sure that you didn't follow the news or the happenings in DC. Also think about it... the average 8th grade student is what... 12? Maybe 13 at the most? They are not adults and are not voters. They have no concept of taxes, foreign policy, health insurance, etc.. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Maybe 13 at the most? Yeah, most kids are thinking about trying to get a girlfriend, a first kiss, going to the movies on a Friday or Saturday night, heck and in this day and age, maybe even getting laid.
Quote:You guys are two peas in a pod. I just hope you don't attempt to brainwash your 1 year old and never give he/she a chance to form their own opinions in life. Maybe I'm miscalculating something here, but I do know that for me, at 14 years old I was a sophomore in high school (10th grade), NOT in 8th grade. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
Quote:I have no issue with an 8th grade class visiting DC. I have a huge issue with an 8th grader having a political opinion, again, as most human beings should. The 8th grader doesn't have a political opinion. They're only aping what their parents tell them. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Then why was Paul Ryan having his picture taken with them? Putting 'snowflakes' in context with conservatives is quite comical to say the least.
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.
Quote:Putting 'snowflakes' in context with conservatives is quite comical to say the least. I know, right? Liberals think they can just push their hard earned nickname off on others. Quote:The 8th grader doesn't have a political opinion. They're only aping what their parents tell them. According to this board people (so-called adults) are only aping what Fox or CNN told them. So why are you getting upset about 8th graders?.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Quote:According to this board people (so-called adults) are only aping what Fox or CNN told them. Upset? I'm not upset in the least. If parents wish to fill their children's minds with narrow-minded intolerance and disrespect, that's their business. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Upset? I'm not upset in the least. If parents wish to fill their children's minds with narrow-minded intolerance and disrespect, that's their business. Parents have been doing that for about 5,000 years. You think that's going to change anytime soon?

Quote:Parents have been doing that for about 5,000 years. You think that's going to change anytime soon? No argument here. Quote:You guys are two peas in a pod. I just hope you don't attempt to brainwash your 1 year old and never give he/she a chance to form their own opinions in life.Do you know the 14 year old kid they're talking about? Maybe he does follow what's been going on and has formed his own opinion about it. If this were another regime, I'm sure you might be singing a different tune. He also could just being saying things that his parents have talked to him about. Who knows but how is this any different than if a conservative parent says that gay people shouldn't be married? You're very quick to jump down the throats of anything that's not your own viewpoint which also seems to be what you bash others for.
I wonder how many people concerned about parents pushing politics on a kid are also concerned about parents pushing other things on kids (like for example, religion)
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Again... blame the progressives for this. The regressives are freaking out what 8 th graders do.
Ohhh ... the parents. Oh...they shouldn't get involved. Maybe, just maybe, these 8 th graders figured out Ryan is a hypocritical, self serving, anti Trump, waiting in the wings, still hurt over his VP loss loser. Maybe they're smarter than we think. Maybe. These concerned citizens are the same ones pushing their kids on the baseball, football, gymnastics, track and field, etc etc to succeed. But politics? Taboo? Cmon...you disturbed ones over this ... many of you slammed Ryan. Now? It's ...it's ..well just typical regressive spin and faux outrage.

Seriously I think the teacher put them up to this, if I had skipped out an event like this in school I would have been punished and made to do make up assignments. This wasnt a voluntary vacation, you bounce on a field trip your doing Ferris Buellers day off/skipping school.
8th grade history is not were the politics comes in, I didnt get that till at least 3 years later, so of course I doubt the legitamacy of the 'protest.' Before someone even goes there, I would think the same thing if it was Obama. I personally don't like Paul Ryan at all, he is everything about the GOP that made me leave the party years ago, but it doesn't matter if your a 13/14 year old kid on a field trip, you stay there and talk, and have a great story to tell your kids later. This is just rude. And I know a certain segment will say this is thier 'right' because they support the move, but it isn't. If kids had the right to skip school there wouldn't be truancy officers. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. No way I'd still be alive after all that choking.
The problem is not an 8th grader having a political opinion, the problem is teaching the 8th grader to avoid confronting situations and opinions that make them uncomfortable. Its really a big problem in general on all sides of the political spectrum.
Why can't kids have opinions. If the school brings in David Duke to talk to your 8th grade child, does your child not have the right to walk out? Kids are better informed these days ..... we were simply sponges to our teachers teachings. HECK, I WAS TAUGHT THAT WE SON THE [BLEEP] VIETNAM WAR AND I KNOW YOU SOUTHERNERS STILL THINK YOU WON THE CIVIL WAR.

If it was my 8th grader and Obama or some other politician speaking we wouldn't participate I don't have a problem with them walking out.

Doesnt mean the idea of state rights died with the loss.
Quote: Quote: Those don't sound like quotes from 13/14 year old 8th grade students to me. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. |
