Cleveland matches Jags offer for Mack

Well, good conversation fellas. Good luck this year, beat Indy!

I guess the Browns were too afraid of letting the Jags poach another player from them, after the successful Don Carey maneuver a couple of years ago.

Considering they had all yesterday to think it over I'm not surprised. I hope Cleveland enjoys having the highest paid offensive line in the league.

Quote:Still a just a rumor. I checked again, no official words yet. But it is expected Browns will match.

For what it's worth,  Jay Glazer is also reporting the news:

<p class="">Browns had gone back and forth bc of guarantee and were leery of 25 mil or north but decided to match

Lets see....matched within hours....I'd say thats matching the deal immediately. Just like some of us predicted would happen.

Caldwell had the right player, but obviously failed pretty bad on the contract. It was way too easy for Cleveland to match.

Complete success for the Jags. Didn't get the player but we did get other intangibles that some won't be willing to acknowledge.

Tell us your offer.

That works out pretty well for the Eagles.

Right, we offered to make him the highest paid center in the NFL but it was too low.

Has it?

I'd rather throw the money towards other key players. Having the highest paid center isn't exactly worth boasting about IMO. Draft a center this year and focus more on the other positions that we REALLY need to fill. Mack woulda been good, but I don't think he's worth the money honestly.

Merge this immediately. :verymad:

Quote:Cleveland probably doesn't even have a copy of the contract yet.
I would think Mack's agent probably communicated the details as soon as they had the draft done.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yes, if by complete success you mean missing out on a pro bowl level addition that you had to give nothing but money to get, then yeah, complete success Rolleyes

Looks like we'll be settling for a stupid Stork now. yay.

For the bulk of Andy Reid's tenure and the beginning of Chip's, yes.

Your offer to Mack that would make Cleveland decline, what is it?

Well obviously they should have overpaid him by even more than he's getting overpaid by.

Quote:84 pages. The center of attention ends.

That was kinda witty, I'll give you that.

I'm happy with the attempt. Definitely disappointed, but there's only so much you can offer to a center.
No commercial messages in sigs
