Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Even with Stanton not getting hurt I don't think they had a shot. At the time the Pirates were the last one in the WC and they were 78-69 when Stanton went down and the Marlins were 71-75. Talking about a herculean effort to get in the playoffs.

That being said, it doesn't really matter. The MLB playoffs are a total crapshoot and once you get in it's anybody's game. The NBA usually crowns the best team in the league because a 7 game sample size is sufficient in basketball. A best of 7 sample size in baseball is pretty small.
