Ode to "let's talk about" ll

So we're out to eat and I asked for the beer list on tap and I inadvertently cracked myself up.

They have Dallas Blonde Ale on tap and I told the waiter, "I'll do a Dallas Blonde."

It didn't register what I said until he had walked away.

Wouldn’t we all?? Lol.

I love stories like this.  I find myself doing stuff like this all too often.  Maybe it’s because I don’t think first, maybe it’s because I just don’t care. I backed my truck into a goofy parking spot one time.  I back in, check my mirrors, look at the wife and said “I’m not straight, am I?”   We both had our laughs.

I could have swore I just saw Killary Clinton's doppelganger in a gay bar I wandered in to this evening...............

Only in Jacksonville Florida will you see a man in a 3 piece suit, on his way in to a church with his family, wearing flip-flops.......... I just wish I had my phone on me when I saw it so I could have snapped a pic.........

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day.

About six months ago, a neighbor of a client asked me if I wanted a grinder. I said, “No, I’m a straight male” turns out it was an actual bench grinder. (He should’ve been more specific). I figured I’d take it. Have 2 already, I didn’t need it. This one is old. By old, I mean it doesn’t even have a ground on the plug and the old fashioned metal toggle switch. I decided I need to clean out the garage and tops some stuff. I figured if I threw this out, if nothing else, the “junk” man would pick it up if no one else did. It’s my way of giving it away without the hassle of asking around. There was one neighbor I thought about asking but didn’t. His wife text me asking if the motor still works. Having never plugged it in, I said her guess was as bad as mine and explained it’s origin with me and that I’d walk it over. I go to the curb, grab the grinder, plug it in, flip the toggle and it works. 5 minutes after this lady texts me she replies back that he’s no longer interested. That quick??? I just told her that I plugged it worked and that I’ll put it back on the curb if he changes his mind. I’m kinda stumped. Why ask and change your mind that fast? Whatever, my security cameras will be watching to see if you grab it. Not that I care. Just curious why he changed his mind so fast.

I have no idea what it looks like, how old it is, or how it functions, but some of those old tools are worth some decent money.

I'm a fan of a few 'pickers' shows.  Just as an example, I bought an old (1938) steel Erector Set case (case only) for $5 at an estate sale.  Sold it for $40 after cleaning it up.

You'd be surprised at some of the [BLEEP] that people value.

If I had the time, perhaps I’d look into it further.  Try to find a brand, model etc that would pin point an age.  Occasionally, I will watch some of the picking shows.  They’re pretty fascinating at times.  I never thought of that aspect.  To me, it’s old, but doesn’t seem “that” old.  So, unless I pull it out of the trash (again) the lack of the ground is what’s dating it.  If I had to guess, I’d say 70’s early 80’s.  I could be way wrong, and that is admittedly with ZERO knowledge.  I’d pay whatever it’s worth to clean out my garage right now.  I’ve got about 15+ pieces of 2 cycle equipment taking up what little space I have between my workbench and one of my trailers.  And it’s not a 3 car garage either.  If it happens to be worth something, I know it sounds bad but, more power to them.  I just don’t have the time or space right now to figure it out.  I will say, due to its age I kinda wanted to keep it.  But I know I will never do anything with it and further turn into my dad with my “man hoarding”.  I figure it’s for the best.

As far as the amount of time I spend 'investigating' stuff...  Hell, I don't do any kind of extensive investigation.  A quick Google search will tell you if it might be worth anything.  Then I may look a little closer.

I had to work yesterday due to a call in. It was aggravating at first since I only had 15 minutes before I realized I needed to get dressed and make a lunch but I actually enjoyed it. I missed being out there and hang out with the guys. I think they enjoyed it too. It was also nice to get up and move around/ get exercise. It inspired me to go out back this morning cut up and split some oak I have in a trailer in the back from a job early this year. Sure beats going to the gym. Even with my splitter I worked up a nice sweat. I think it’s shower and nap time now.

So I was reminded of this in another thread.

I have a friend whose test tone is the Homer Simpson, "DOH!".

In some of the best timing of all time, he sent me a text message.

We're having estimates done for rebuilding/remodeling our shower and tub in one of the bathrooms.  Five seconds after the guy quotes me the price, my buddy sends me a text.

I think the guy thought I did it on purpose somehow.

Any knife enthusiasts here? Was wondering about ESEE. Made in the USA and by all accounts seems like a good quality knife. Yes, they have many different knives. I’m curious about a few to the degree I bought 5 to try out. They should be here shortly. If all is what it’s advertised, I plan on buying one to gift to my brother.

I didn’t want to start another thread over a topic few may be into. But if anyone has knowledge or experience with these knives, please let me know your thoughts. I’ve inadvertently done research through other browsing on my interests.

I may be giving my two-week notice/retiring on Monday.  I was going to try to make it until end of year, but they're changing my office location to Addison on 3/14.  It's not a whole lot farther, 12 miles, but the traffic once you get past Irving is horrendous.  It's like a difference of driving in Jacksonville and Atlanta.  I've though a lot about it and I'm just not gonna do it.  [BLEEP] them.  Then again, this is Wells Fargo.  They won't care.  They'll just backfill my position and let me go on my merry way.  At least, that's what I'm thinking.  We'll see what happens.
