Training Camp Twitter Thread

Quote:Sorry, but I think that's just a load of crap.  "Knowing the protections" shouldn't be something that is super difficult for professional offensive linemen.
Well that's fine you think that, but there is a reason they brought in Wiz.

It's no coincidence the team had a hole at C last year, he was available, and he knew the offense.

If learning the protections/adjustments were no big deal, why bother to bring him in?

I think like any other part of the offense, having a full year in the scheme helps the offensive line, too.  Just like it helps the QBs and the receivers.

Quote:and if offseason training and traning camp isn't enough to get them to "gel", then they need to work out together and practice these drills on their own time.

Given the fact the OLine position is more complex than the Defensive back 7 (LBs and Secondary), I assume that you think they should also gel in 1 offseason and training camp too --- correct?   If so, you're in for a big letdown this year when you see broken coverages and missed assignments.

Heck, it even took the Steelers a few years to gel under Palumalu, Harrison, Woodley, Ike Taylor and company.   This Jags D is going to take a 16-game season to get on the same page.

Quote:Is the team perfect?  No.  But there isn't a team in the league without at least one hole on the roster.

This isn't necessarily the case. Just as an example, I've occasionally heard of teams returning all 22 starters because they're all solid players. I'd argue there are several teams with reliable starters at every position.

@BuckyBrooks @NFL Spent time at #Jaguars camp earlier this week. Here are a few thoughts: 1. Defense is championship caliber. 2. Gabbert has improved

Name them.

Denver, the defending champs, have a HUGE hole at QB.

Carolina, the runners up, has questions at WR and CB at minimum.

Go from there.

I couldn't agree more with Bullseye's posts as of late. He is right on the money on everything he is saying.

Quote:Guys, I think we might actually be a good team now. it's time to officially shut down the Modis roof access.
Sorry Dude, I've got to many "Emerald Club" card holders already lined up for the first game, some will be trying to get in before the scrimmage is over.

As long as Brooklyn is around, we will need MODIS.

When in worry or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout.

Quote:Aaron Colvin is better than Prince.

Don't think so man. Prince is a very good CB when healthy. He hasn't allowed 100 yards against him in 52 straight games. Colvin can be potentially better than him but not at the moment.

Questions at WR? They're getting their number one guy back from injury, and did pretty well with the rag tag group they had last season...

DB? Maybe, but losing Norman isn't that terrible, imo.

Every team has bits and pieces that could always use an upgrade.... but the good teams don't usually have glaring weaknesses.

On the OLINE point...

I think Beachum being held back is precautionary and no one should be up in arms about it.

I think the Joker at LG even when Beachum isn't in there tells us they already known Beachum will be good to go. They just don't want the dude getting a tweak or anything during practice.

Could our Oline be worse than last season, I suppose... but very doubtful, barring injury.

Linder back in, Cann played well and should be better, Parnell is serviceable, and Beachum is penciled in at LT(not in stone sure). If Joker is half way OK at LG, our Oline should be good enough.

Remember how the ravens didnt want to give up a 3rd to jump us and get Ramsey? Well the guy they picked in 3rd broke his ankle today, that Kaufusi guy from BYU
