Doesn't he beat the demon? And end up calling in the gryphons to pick the little hobbits up off the side of mountain. Which creates the plot hole, why didn't froto take the damn gryphons there in the first place and just throw the ring into the mountain and fly home?

And you think Sauron isn't going to spot a bunch of gryphons headed to Mt. Doom? While carrying Hobbits who he knows have the One Ring? To the only place that is hot enough to destroy the One Ring?
