It's way too early to write-off Smoot. He will end up being a valuable swing guy on the defensive line who will average 6-8 sacks per year. He was known for his leadership and never getting hurt. That being said, the Jaguars needed to take another offensive lineman in the 3rd or 4th rounds. There were several guys available who likely would have upgraded our very weak line. Feeney, Dawkins, Asiata, or Elflein would have become starters- if not immediaely, then shortly into the season. I believe Asiata was available in the 5th round and his strength is run-blocking- just what they needed with the addition of Fournette.
