What are you talking about 'Blanked' for 3 or 4 games????

 

He had 1 game in bad conditions where he threw for less than 200 and under 50% completion rate.

 

The kicker is he won.

 

He took UCF... REPEAT UCF... into Penn State and destroyed them. BTW, the head coach was the Texans head coach that day at Penn State.... Bill O'Brien.

 

He throws for 25 TD's and single digit INT's a year. Completed more than 63% of his passes each year in a pro style offense.

 

That is the major thing about Bortles compared to any of the other QB's not named Teddy. He's not being drafted on potential. He's already lived up to potential.

 

He beat Louisville while at UCF in a pro style offense. Also took command during that game and after being down 28-7 in the 3rd Quarter marched them downfield and won the game. He did a similar task against Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl as a 17 point underdog. When Baylor finally tied the game everyone expected Blake to roll over and play dead. He didn't. Never got rattled (which Blaine did often in big games) and led his team to a commanding lead to eventually seal the game.

 

UCF won't win 9 games next year playing in the American Conference without this kid. He led them to a 13-1 season. And only loss was to South Carolina who will finish 4th in the BCS standings. Pretty remarkable considering UCF doesn't have a great amount of talent? Is anyone else being drafted from UCF this year? Highly doubtful.

 

If he would have got the ball back in the 4th against USC they may very well be unbeaten. They haven't played scrubs. Broyles can play ball control time of possession efficient NFL type O. Or he can sling it with the best of them.

 

The comparisons to Big Ben are identical. He took Miami of Ohio to a 13-1 season and threw for similar numbers in a pass happy offense. Now anyone want to tell me how many 13-1 seasons' Miami of Ohio has had since? Or even winning season?

 

Ben is a superbowl winning QB and he is elite. Maybe not in the way of Manning or Brady, but I'll glady take a guy like Ben in Bortles.

 

He's going to be a very good professional QB. He's not Leftwich. He's not Gabbert.
