Don't you think maybe they are just mitigating the mistakes of a QB who throws too many picks?  Get a better QB in Jax and there will be better balance. Until then, they should run i as much as possible.

I think the meme that Bortles makes too many mistakes misses some nuance. He's been put in a situation in his career that his mistakes mattered a lot because the defense was badly coached and poorly prepared. The offense was, too, but the attitude seemed to be that Blake needed to make everything work, and at times he did.

I think the Marrone way of game planning so far looks more like Coughlin or Belichick game planning, accepting that they can't just write "have Blake take care of it" on the game plan notepad and go get some more ice cream. Instead they recognize that each game is different and the same plan won't work in all situations.

The Jaguars on Sunday against the texans was very different from the Jaguars last year against the titans. I expect this Sunday the game plan will feature Fournette heavily, but not just be the same as last week.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jaguars even manage to pass it more than they run it.

I think they are absolutely, without a doubt,  game-planning to mitigate his mistakes. That doesn't mean he won't be asked to throw it 30 times against various defenses that don't tend to force the QB into mistakes as often. 
They are just going to be very choosy about when and where they trust him to pass the ball. 

His mistakes in the past are what they are. We can paint a picture of how bad the team and coaching around him was at the time, and that's fine. But right now, this regime is not convinced he won't keep making too many (albeit less) of those mistakes. Perhaps he'll begin earning more trust as the season wears on. I hope so. 

I think they are wise to take much of the offense from Blake's shoulders, and I believe it may help him in the long run.
