If we beat the Titans will you take Jags seriously?

Well, defeating the tacks would be a huge step in proving we have a legitimate shot at the division this season. Considering what our schedule is like compared to what others in our division are facing one would almost have to think that if the Jags can just go out on the field and not utterly lay down and die... then yes, we should be considered legitimate contenders in our division.
But least we get too hasty keep this in mind; we must prove this week if the week one victory over an ailing Houston team was just a fluke or if we're the 'real deal'. The Houston defense is good but 'one dimensional' in that they specialize in the pass rush. If an opponent can put an offense on the field that goes 'old school' and puts the emphasis on smash mouth style running the ball with passing as a compliment instead of the main course... you effectively negate the tinhorns main defensive strength. Did the Jags game plan with this specifically in mind or did it have a lot more to do with just trying to minimize Bortles opportunities to turn the ball over via interceptions and fumbles? Or does it have more to do with running Marrones style of play that he's used else where? He's been saying all off season that we're going to become a 'run first' team. I suspect it's some of all the above... with the benefit of negating the tinhorn pass rush being a happy side effect. |
